problem with 'archive' folder and indexing
Special folder 'archives' shows up twice in the account list, and can't be deleted. If I delete the underlying OS folder, it comes back. If I index messages, the program gets stuck in a loop checking the archives folder for messages. If I leave the program running in the background it gets stuck in an index loop and makes the computer fan run all the time.

Inappropriate? Thanks for reporting this problem Jeremy. Is this for an IMAP account? If so, gmail or just a regular imap server?
Is this a new regression in using Postbox or has it been like this since you first started using Postbox?
Mac or Windows?
And have you recently tried to change your archive folder via Tools / Account Setting / <server> which could have caused this bug?
Thanks!

It's on a MacBook w/Leopard. Been like this since I imported my accounts from Thunderbird. I reported it once before, on a thread that eventually ended when most users' indexing problems were solved with the current beta.
The folder properties call it a 'special' folder, and the 'delete' option is not offered. It has a local-disk path (which I tried deleting while postbox was shut down, but it comes right back), and is not associated with any email servers. -
Inappropriate?Jeremy, the next time it hangs / gets stuck in that loop, can you bring up the Mac Activity Monitor, select Postbox and then Sample.
Then send the sample file to support@postbox-inc.com with a link to this getsatisfaction topic?
Thanks!
So you have an account that has two archive folders listed in it right? Is this in Local Folders or in a mail account? -
Inappropriate? Not sure if that will work, because as soon as I touch the machine the background indexing stops (guess it's set up to run only when the machine's idle). I'll try though.
The 'archive' folder shows up twice in the 'accounts' pane. There's really just one though - if I rename it, both names change, and they both reference the same filesystem folder. The icon looks like a disk drive. -
Inappropriate? Can you attach a screen shot or send me a screen shot of your folder pane? I wanted to confirm that the archive folder is showing up in the account tree as opposed to the folder tree (which is where I would expect it) and which account has it showing up twice.
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?I've had a similar problem with the archive folder (not the indexing). I moved all the mail from the new archive folder that suddenly appeared one day into the old (identical) archive folder, & was then able to delete the bonus archive folder. But when I next archived an email from the inbox, the extra folder appeared again. Grrr!
I’m frustrated
