RSS sync with Google reader
Besides trying out Postbox, I'm currently using two RSS readers: Google Reader (mainly on my iPhone) and Mail.app.
Now maybe there's a way to address one thing that always bugged me about this combo: Is there a chance to sync the RSS feeds in Postbox with Google Reader? That way you wouldn't have to go through all the articles you already read once more.

Inappropriate? This would be amazing!!! I love Google Reader but hate having to use another tool to use it because they don't sync. This would be a deal maker for me!
I’m giggly

Inappropriate?on mac, use Netnewswire. Its free and has both a desktop client and an iphone client and some really great sync features for dealing with it.
Please don't add RSS support into Postbox, there are other full featured applications that handle that just fine.

Don't understand what is the problem with adding RSS. If you have no use for it, turn it off. It is not like the company is going to force you to use it. Most mail clients already support RSS due to the fact that RSS are commonly used at same time with email because people would like to share their RSS item with other people.
I do agree that bloating an application with useless features is bad but as long as the company does it right and allow the options to turn off features that'll reduce the memory footprint, it should be fine. -
Sure, I use NetNewsWire and I email links to people quite often. It's a quick and painless keyboard shortcut. I also send links from my web browser, but that doesn't mean I want a web browser built into my mail client any more than I want an RSS reader.
The problem with adding RSS and other non-mail features is that it requires engineering resources which could be better spent making Postbox a truly great mail client. Software bloat affects developers as much as (if not more than) its users. It also breaks the design principle of "Do one thing and do it well". The expression "Jack of all trades, master of none" comes to mind. -
Inappropriate?Thanks for the tip, mbond!
Downloading netnewswire now.
Now how do I undo 'set postbox as default rss reader'?
Because now when I click on 'subscribe to rss' on any websites, it automatically opens 'compose new mail' in PostBox?
I’m thankful

the setting is in safari i think. -
Inappropriate?Found it.
Again, thanks!
NetNewsWire is amazing, now I can really 'focus' my Postbox to handle just my email accounts. Left Apple Mail since yesterday. -
Inappropriate?i personaly love my mail and rss feeds to be in the same window.
I love it that postbox is getting there with both mail and rss, i hate having to open a different program to do everything.
I DO however, Understand the concept of a single program doing a single thing well but i think that mail and rss go hand in hand.
I’m amused

RSS and email are very similar. I used to have a set of server side scripts that would download my RSS feeds and put them into my imap folders and then use procmail to filter them to the appropriate place.
Problem is, that is how i did it 8 years ago. Now, there are full feature clients.
They need to make RSS not suck. Don't just make it as good as mail.app or whatever. Make it as good as NetNewsWire. Make people say "NetNewsWire needs to be more like Postbox" ... otherwise its half-baked and 'just good enough' to appease people that want rss in their mail client.
