sender is always from the account used to authenticate with smtp server?
i've set up multiple accounts from two domains (gmail, and my personal domain). the default smtp server is set up to use one of my gmail identities. and when i send an email from any account, it displays as the sender the identity that i use to authenticate with the smtp server. for example, the identity set up to authenticate with the smtp server is abc@smtp.com. when i send an email from myname@mydomain.com, i expect the receipient to to see the sender as myname@mydomain.com. however, what is shown as the sender is abc@smtp.com. it doesn't matter what account i'm sending from. the sender is always abc@smtp.com. this can't be right.

Inappropriate? Not sure if this is what you are seeing but I think if you use a gmail smtp server the server manually replaces the from identity with your gmail identity....

Inappropriate?so it's a gmail smtp server problem? i'll change the smtp server to my own domain and see if there's a difference. thanks.

Inappropriate?confirmed... it's the gmail smtp server that's substituting the sender's identity with its own. is this a bug that NO ONE is concerned about? including google?

Inappropriate?I'm still having this issue, not sure how to fix it. I have 3 smtp servers, 1 of them being Gmail. No matter which account i send an email from, it comes from Gmail. How do i fix this?

That sounds to me like your accounts are all using the gmail smtp server. Go to Tools / Account Settings and click on each incoming mail account and verify the outgoing server for that account is set correctly.
