Test Build for Beta 16 Now Available
Get Satisfaction Testers,
We have a test build for the upcoming Beta 16 release that addresses several issues that you helped identify. This is only a test build and not the final beta 16 release, so we ask that you please do not blog or Twitter about it at this time. If everything looks okay with the test builds, we'll release Beta 16 in just a few days.
Here are the download URLs:
Mac OS X
Windows
We'll start following up in the various topics with all the fixes that were included in this build but here are some key areas to look at:
* archiving messages on exchange (via imap) preserves topics
* memory footprint improvements
* delete button was not always working when you opened a message in a message tab
* For gmail users, Postbox now detects when gmail requires you to unlock your captcha in order to access your mail.
* when closing a background tab, don't switch to it first.
* stability fixes based on the crash reports we've been collecting from the new crash reporter in beta 15.
Thanks again for helping us shake out this test build in advance of Beta 16!

Inappropriate?Scott, what about that picture drag&drop problem on OSX??
-
Inappropriate? Are you planning on adding individual message tagging system? (if I assign a topic it's added to full conversation, which I really don't want)
And yes, make a topic/tagged message stand out more (like labels in finder)!
Will you add shortcuts 1-9 as in Tbird to quickly tag a message?
And when I reply to a to-do item I get a copy of my sent mail in my Inbox marked as a to-do, and I really don't want this!
My badge icon sometimes displays unread count and most of the times nothing! Does it display unread count since last getmail? If so, it really isn't something that I want since I automatically check for mail every 2-5 minutes.
Sorry to be off topic here but this is something I would really like to see implemented!
I’m anxious
-
Inappropriate?Check it out! I can archive a tagged email with the "a" key and the message keeps it's tag! I'm a happy man!
I just bought a license. Thanks Postbox team!
I’m happy
-
thanks for verifying Paul! -
Inappropriate? Are there any mirrors to download from? While I can access postbox-inc fine, the mac download link is stalling for me.
-
are you still having problems Dennis? Things to seem to be working for me. -
Inappropriate?Scott,
please don't release this without fixing the quickview problem on Snow Leopard. This is a deal killer! I'm using Apple Mail again bevause of this. I receive a lot of PDF files which I want to view. As PB doesn't show them inline (which it could and should) I have to quickview them because if I open them they are saved in my downloads folder and I then have to delete them. -
(off topic) You prefer Mail to tBird??(/off topic) -
This should be an OPTION but not a standard. I absolutely LOATHE viewing PDFs inline. Load times, etc. Huge pain. -
I have to prefer mail over TB because of OSX integration. And that's what's OSX is all about. -
This would be horrible as standard. There are a number of ways in which inline needs tweaking and improving anyway. -
Hi manfred,
Are you using the final Snow Leopard release - as some users have been reporting that quick look is working for them.
Unfortunately we are not going to have a fix for this in beta 16. We're waiting on some information about how to do integrate with quick look on 10.6 (apparently it has changed quite a bit) which was just released on Friday. -
Yes I'm using final release. Quick look only works with jpegs but with no other files I've tried. Comme on you can hold release for a few days and fix this. This is quite an important bug, which worked. We Mac folks are used to this! -
Inappropriate?@Scott: It still beachball's for me. I did a search for "cat" - locked the app up for 15 seconds (and will do this consistently even on subsequent searches.) A search for "norway" finishes almost immediately. Let me know what I can do to help diagnose this.

Inappropriate?Would still like to see right-clicking on an account NOT result in that account coming up in the current window.
I want to be able to Right-Click on account > open in new tab, WITHOUT that account coming up in the current tab as soon as I right-click.

Inappropriate?>>> We've improved contact search in beta 15, which is now available: http://getsatisfaction.com/postbox/to...
>> alphabetical order/sorting please...

Beta 16, this suggestion couldn't make it through...
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Hi, guys. Well, CPU usage hasn' gone that high, but it's hogging a mind-boggling 1.1gb of real RAM (only 1.6gb of virtual).
ok, it just checked to make sure my numbers were right and it's now dropped to 546mb of RAM (1.3gb virtual). That's weird. NOTHING changed -- I was just typing this message. -
Inappropriate? When I installed the b16 test build, just for fun I reset all folders (two imap accounts; around 70K messages). When I reindexed all folders, PB indexed about 69K messages. I reindexed all folders again, and it found about 1,000 more. I reindexed all folders a thrid time and it found about 20 more. Apparently the third time was a charm as additional reindexing didn't find any more.
Any idea why PB doesn't find them all the first time? Not a big problem, but seems odd...
Thanks,
Tom
XP/sp3 -
Thanks Tom. We opened a bug for this to investigate what is going on but we won't be getting to this for beta 16. -
Inappropriate?Lightning BUG in b16 test?
There appears to be a bug in b16 related to Lightning. If I open Lightning from the Calendar "permanent" tab, when I CLOSE the active Calendar tab, the tab disappears completely. It does NOT become a "permanent" tab again on the right, with Attachments, Images, etc.
The only way to get it back (that I've found) is to quit Postbox and start it again).

Hmm I can't seem to reproduce that. If you restart Postbox can you reproduce it? Any errors in Tools / Error Console after you do it? -
now Seth and I can reproduce this. If I switch back to the inbox and then close the lightning tab the problem happens. Good catch and thanks for reporting this Robio. -
Thanks a lot Robio, we'll be pushing a new lightning build with beta 16 to fix this. Really appreciate you catching this for us. -
I think this may also be related to the fact that closing the Calendar tab doesn't take me back to the tab I was on before, but instead takes me to the next tab to the left — which is in an account that isn't using the Calendar.
When I click back to a tab displaying an account that DOES use the Calendar, the Calendar tab is back.
This may have been my mistake — I thought the Calendar tab was there all the time. Didn't know it could be account-specific.
Is that by design? -
fixed in beta 16 with a new lightning update (0.9.2). -
Inappropriate?FYI.... The PB welcome screen on the b16 build still displays "beta 15". However, the version is correct in Help-->About.
I’m unconcerned
-
we don't push a new start page until b16 is officially released. Cheers...-Scott
