Typing in contacts book won't recognize spaces

When I'm in my address book, and I type a name to navigate to someone, it doesn't seem to recognize spaces properly as I type. If, for example, I have 26 different "Chris lastname" people, typing "Chris Tuna" doesn't get me anywhere - the selection stops at the top-most Chris (that's "Chris Albacore", if you're curious). Then I have to manually navigate down past "Chris Bluefin", "Chris Catfish", "Chris Dragonfish", etc. Waste of time, if you ask me, and defeats the purpose of typing the name in the first place.
