Windows Friendly Attachments?
Some of my Windows addresses are reporting problems opening and viewing attachments that I send from my Mac. In Mail.app there is an option when attaching a file marking it as a "Windows Friendly" attachment. Is there such an option in Postbox? I haven't noticed anything, and this could (has) cause some problems among multiple platforms.

Inappropriate?klongwood, are they having problems with attachments sent by Postbox from your Mac?
-
Yes. From my Mac (Intel, 10.5) attached a .doc file and the address was unable to open the file. I made sure I didn't check the "hide extension" option thinking that might cause a problem. However, they still seemed to have a problem with the attachment. Unfortunately, everyone else I send attachments to are on Macs so replicating the situation may be difficult. -
Inappropriate?klongwood, do you have a safe document you can send to me which would demonstrate this problem?
If so, send it to scott @ postbox-inc.com
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?I wonder if the attachments you are having problem sending are bundled files - that is files in the mac that actually consist of multiple files like keynote files.
If you send the same .doc from mail.app does mail.app end up zipping up the file? -
Inappropriate?Personally, I've found that sending attachments to Windows users is vastly more successful with Postbox than it ever was with Mail.app; even when clicking the "Windows friendly" option I was only ever 50% sure they would be able to open the files. Works every time with Postbox.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?I send and receive a lot of Windows files (word, pdf, and so on) and I switch between Mac and Windows depending on where I am (Mac at home and Windows laptop on the road). I gave up using the Mail application in Mac -- it was just too frustrating and I get a yowl of complaints from Windoze (sorry, Windows) users. I switched to Thunderbird and have been using for a long time because it works darn well with attachments. However, I was never happy with the power and functionality that MS Outlook has in Mac applications. I heard about Postbox through Facebook and decided to give it a try. Postbox is very similar to Thunderbird so there isn't much learning curve associated with it. I know Postbox is in beta and willing to help it better than Thunderbird. Here's my deflated two cents thought.
