Bookmarklet Problem: "Looks like you're not logged into Posterous right now..."
Bookmarklet persists that user is not logged in when trying to post something. The following are attempted to remedy the problem: private data such as cookies & cache were deleted, b*let removed then readded, browser (Minefield 3.0.6) was also restarted. Issue still persisted repeatedly. The b*let, however, works flawlessly on Safari public beta 4. System: Mac OS X 10.5.6.

Here is how to handle this situation: In the above mentioned section on cookies, you will see a button titled "Exceptions." Click on that button then enter the Web address of the cookies you wish to acccept by entering "posterous.com". Then click on the "Accept" button and close the window.
Technically, there is no way we can do an in-browser style bookmarklet without third party cookie support. This is no different from Google Reader or Friendfeed bookmarklets.
The workaround above is the solution if you want to keep third party cookies disabled.
Thanks guys.

Inappropriate?I've been trying to track this down for quite some time -- have not been able to repro on my FF 3.06 + OS X setup at all.
Do you mind emailing me a screenshot of your cookies for posterous.com? Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Show Cookies, then type posterous.com into the filter? I'm most interested in sharebymail_session_id.

Sorry for the inconvenience -- if it's anyone who can help me track this bug down, it'll be a savvy mac user like yourself. Thanks for the help I really appreciate it. -
Inappropriate?Garry, I stumbled upon the 'bug'. On Firefox (or Minefield), user needs to ensure there's check mark on "Accept 3rd party cookies" on the Privacy Preferences". That fixes it but I rather keep 3rd party cookies off my browser. I assume that the bookmarklet is not playing nice w/ the way the browser deals w/ cookies or vice versa. In any case, I attach a screenshot of the cookies. Also, I appreciate yor getting back so quickly.
Regards,
Yoha

Inappropriate?Garry, are you still going to release a bookmarklet that works without accepting 3rd party cookies?

Inappropriate?Garry, thanks for the info. Just want to share with you, however, that Tumblr bookmarklet works without 3rd-party cookie. I have been using it for quite some time. You might be interested in looking into that. In any case, thanks for the support.

Inappropriate?BTW Yoha, thanks for tracking down the 3rd party thing -- that was huge.
Tumblr bookmarklet gets around all of this by popping a new window, which we don't want to do. It will confuse users and the bookmarklet often gets lost easily.
