An interesting feature to have would be to have an alert if a news pops up at a certain level. I mean getting on your site to look at the post-ranked news is great but having also alerts on my Firefox toolbar while I'm surfing somewhere else would be awesome.
Having those alerts linked to some text values would also be nice.

Inappropriate?JB, a clarification. Do you mean a generic pop-up which notifies you of all global events (across all feeds / sources your subscribed to). Or, a notification that is tied to the site you're currently on.. So for example: if this site has something above PostRank 6, let me know.

Inappropriate?Hi Ilya, I mean a what you call a generic popup, aka absolutely no relation with the site i'm surfing on. An example: let's say that someone like Gates, Jobs, Brin dies or quits or admits that their products are BS or whatever, even if I'm surfing on a soccer web site to get the latests news on italian soccer, I have a popup somewhere on my toolbar that brings me the news.

Inappropriate?JB, this may require a little setup on your end, but you're a windows user, you might want to consider giving Particls (.com) a try.
You can simply add the AideRSS merged feed (from 'my feeds' section), or each AideRSS filtered feed individually to it. From there, Particls should give you a very similar alert experience as you've described above.
