PostRank Analytics to PostRank Connect

I'm already a PostRank Analytics customer and I want to register for PostRank Connect. However, the 2 step process already shows my blog feed (instead of my site home page). I can't delete this entry and can't add my site.

Hmm... I replied to this yesterday. Weird. Oh well, second attempt!

I updated your site's record to show the main URL instead of the feed. However, I am also seeing that you have two accounts, an existing Analytics one and a new one with a different email for Connect. Did you want it kept this way, or did you want just one account under one of the email addresses?

    Hi Melanie,
thanks for checking into it. I've been using Analytics with shamel67@... for a while and when I got the Connect invite I 1st tried with that account but it didn't work (cound't claim my site). Then I created a new one with shamel@... and found I couldn't claim the site because it was already claimed via shamel67@... (good check!)

Long story short: 1) you can delete the shamel@... Connect account 2) If I login with shamel67@... on Connect I can't claim the site because it shows the RSS feed from my blog instead of the main site.

BTW, it's interesting to note one cannot delete an account once it's created.

Ok, I've cancelled the shamel@ account, so we can ignore that one from here on in. I've updated your site's record so it has the correct, up to date feed and the site URL, rather than just showing the feed URL. That usually does the trick for claiming.

When you have a moment, can you try logging in to Connect (https://connect.postrank.com/login) with the shamel67@ email address and see if you can complete verification now? If you still have issues, please let me know.

Keeping account deletions as an administrative function was a decision we made early on, since there's no real way to get data back if someone deletes it by accident or wasn't intending to delete everything. If we got more requests/requirements to remove accounts, we would look at making it more accessible, but it really doesn't come up very often.

Ok, shamel@ is out of the way :)

I think the issue is if I login to Connect with my Analytics account, it still shows my blog feed (not my blog URL) and the various authentication methods are not appropriate. See attached image

Connect ask for "Your website", not "Your blog feed"... and thus, the HTML validation isn't appropriate since it would check for an invalid URL. The image or META tag method would require me to do a dummy post (and not sure it would work anyway)

    Or maybe there's something I don't get?

About account deletion: you do such a great job with PostRank, no wonder people aren't asking to delete their account! :)

Hi Mélanie, I just found something in my configuration that might explain the issue I had. Under Analytics, for my site, under the settings the value for Website URL was actually the value of my RSS feed. I don't think I could have made such a blatant error (could it be a side-effect bug introduced when the page was changed to add the Engagement Point Value?).

And voilà! Now under Connect I have the correct site URL and I could easily very ownership of the site.
