Where do I get the Feed Hash?
I've just installed the PostRank Wordpress plug-in on my WP2.7 install (on http://www.flightsimx.co.uk) and activated it. On the settings page, it's asking for a "Feed Hash". Where do I get such a thing?
Cheers,
Mark

Mark, your feed hash is: a78fd680dd0e1b891eca61d12963a5b6
It appears that our system is not liking the www. in your URL, which is why the plugin didn't pick up the feed hash by itself. We'll look into it.. In the meantime, just update it manually, and let us know if anything else comes up.

Inappropriate?Excellent service, thanks :)
Is it the WWW in my URL or my RSS Feed? I'd love to hear what that problem is/was.
I've manually added the hash and everyone now looks sweet :)

Inappropriate?Mark, nevermind the www. We just didn't have your URL indexed with the 'www'. Both work just fine now.

I’m frustrated with feed hash
-
Inappropriate?I have the same issue. PostRank is not displaying anything in the Posts section on Wordpress Admin. The top posts widget also doesn't display anything. At http://www.skepticgeek.com.
I’m frustrated

That typically happens when your feed hash isn't detected correctly.
From the WordPress Dashboard, if you go down to Settings at the bottom of the left sidebar, then select PostRank in that list, on the page that comes up, make sure this is in the feed hash field: 764c11cf4fe545652d804ca2d282d269 - then save the changes.
If the feed hash was already displaying correctly when you checked, please let me know. -
That was quick! No, it wasn't displaying at all, and after entering the hash, the problem is resolved. Appreciate your quick support, thank you! -
Inappropriate?Hmm, can I just add to the thread with exactly the same problem for:
http://www.anonymong.org/
Version 1.2 on wordpress 2.9.1 -
Ok, just follow the instructions above from the WordPress Dashboard, then make sure the Feed Hash field has 28a47e48d89ecf6aa4010fc7dc6cddcb in it. -
Inappropriate?I can't seem to get mine to work either. I have a hash in there but there are no analytics showing up in my dashboard. The box is there, everything is just zeros though. I have an account too. http://sidburgess.com sidburgess@gmail.com

Inappropriate?Melanie,
Thank you that seems to be working great. Can you explain a little about post rank to me, I am not sure if I understand how this works. How high can you have a post rank? http://getsatisfaction.com/postrank/t...# If a post isn't ranking real high, what could a person do to make it rank higher. Sorry for the silly questions but I am still pretty new to all this.
Thanks

Well, a couple of good starters are here: http://www.postrank.com/postrank and here: https://analytics.postrank.com/docs/e...
A post can have an infinite number of engagement points (i.e. the points assigned to each type of engagement metric), but on the main PostRank site, posts are scored on a 1-10 scale: http://www.postrank.com/feed/08a643ba... -- so 10 is the highest you can get.
To get posts higher ranks, really the best thing to do is to do for other people's content what you want them to do for yours -- comment on their posts, tweet their links, bookmark their posts, etc. People tend to be pretty reciprocal that way. -
Inappropriate?I'm sure I must be doing something wrong as having just set up another wordpress instance, clicked on the install etc.all looks good except as before no feedhash.
should I expect it to get the feedhash automatically? Or is the only way to get it to ask?
The site is: http://www.646allout.org/
wordpress 2.9.2 postrank 1.2
Thanks, and thanks for the help last time as well. -
Inappropriate?Same problem for me with the feed hash not showing up. My site is:
http://www.stephenfrancoeur.com/digit... -
Hi Stephen - your feed hash is 7ae2f25300e5c2a61ca326aa8dc9de4c
So in WordPress, to update that field, under Settings > PostRank there will be a Feed Hash field. Paste that in, and things should start working pretty much right away. And if they don't, give me a holler. :) (melanie@postrank.com) -
Inappropriate? This is an ongoing problem and has been for some time. Are we always suppose to ask for a feedhash? Because the feedhash NEVER shows up in the plugin. How on earth is one suppose to know what their feedhash is? Shouldn't the plugin do this automatically? Is this some kind of bug?
I used to be able to add my site via "direct input" in the subscriptions section, but now that no longer works either. I have added 3 sites now, and NONE of them are showing up. It used to take only about one minute or so before it showed up under my subscriptions, but now it just disappears, like I never added the site(s) at all. Weeks go by and the sites are never added. What's going on?
I’m frustrated
-
Typically it does do it automatically, though the last couple of days there's been a backlog. (Which affects all discovery, including adding new feeds and metrics to accounts.)
If it's failed to pick up the feed hash before then, there may be an issue with the feed(s).
If you send me your username and/or a couple of examples of feeds that aren't getting added, I can investigate - melanie@postrank.com.
Also, my apologies for the delay getting back to you. Timestamp says this was posted yesterday, but it's only just now showing up. -
Inappropriate?Hey!
I've installed PR for quite a while, yet no feedback!
Feed Hash is missing!
Any thought?
Cheers

Inappropriate? My feedhash is also missing, site is http://www.recomp.com/blogma. Thanks!
-
Good timing - the discovery service has just gotten caught up. :) Your feed hash is c0d8c81bbb8ff332ab69c20020c7fdd3.
I believe you're using WordPress, which means you'd add that to the Feed Hash field, which you can find going to Settings, then PostRank in your Dashboard. -
Inappropriate?Hi,
I've just installed the plugin and the feedhash is missing. I am using wordpress and my site is http://www.adrianswinscoe.com/blog/.
Can you help and tell me what my feedhash is?
Thanks,
Adrian -
Hi Adrian - Feed hash is: d46156cbc5f89cf96b71ae94f122d998
To add it in WordPress, from the Dashboard, go to Settings > PostRank > and there'll be a field on that page. -
Inappropriate? This is also a problem for my blog -- http://blog.jasonhanley.com
This seems to be a very common bug that has been around for a long time. Any updates on fixing it?
In the meantime, if you could provide my feed hash, I'd be happy to display your widget.
Best regards,
Jason.

Hi Jason - your feed hash is 73f9cb83bf2527e3869556239d114fb9.
Re. fixing it, where we've found issues with specific people's urls, we've fixed those, but as far as we can tell, most of the time it's just an issue that their sites aren't in the system yet. -
Thanks for the feed Melanie, but there is still a significant bug with your widget builder.
The blog is in your main system and was before, but the widget builder still doesn't put in the correct hash for my blog of as right now. -
There's a bit of a discovery backlog the system's working through at the moment. Should be cleared up today. If I get the feed hash before you do I'll post it here for you. :) -
Here you go: 39e3bafb2d947126e126e8cf7f7f9921 -- it's still gathering posts and metrics, but it's in the system now. -
Inappropriate? My PR was shown perfectly before in http://finally-woken.com. Last week I've just moved to a different hosting and PostRank stops working. The feed hash is empty. I tried to delete the plugin and reinstall the new one but it still doesn't pick up the feed hash. Please help.
-
Could you try it again today? http://labs.postrank.com/top_posts#bu... - just want to make sure it wasn't something offline over the weekend. When I plug in your URL now I am seeing your posts. -
Hi Melanie, unfortunately it still doesn't work. I've deleted the plugin again and re-installed it, but The Top Posts box in my blog is still empty. The list of posts in my wp-admin also doesn't pick up any ranks like it used to. The feed hash is still empty. Should I just paste the widget code manually from http://labs.postrank.com/top_posts#bu... instead into my widget box in wordpress? -
Ok, next we'll try this. In WordPress Dashboard, at the bottom of the left sidebar, can you click on Settings, then click PostRank. On the page that comes up there should be a Feed Hash field. Paste fa9d36a0fb15d8fdcb1d9c133799b75c into that field if there's nothing there, and save it. See if posts start showing up then. (This is assuming the widget is still installed. If not, it won't work.) -
Whoa! It's working now! Thank you Melanie, you rock! -
Excellent. Glad it was a small fix. :) -

Inappropriate?Hi i am also having a problem getting a feed hash my website is http://dev.appcore.com/amazonw.

Can't get your feed hash because your feed doesn't seem to exist: http://dev.appcore.com/amazonw/feed/ - once you get that fixed, our system will be able to process your content. -
Inappropriate?Hi there.
I got a problem.
I putted the widget in my blog but the posts shown aren't mine...
I think there is a mistake in the feed hash taken from my blog: http://benzene4ever.blogspot.com
Maybe someone can help me?
Thanx!
I’m sad

Your feed is in the system now, so you'll just need to update the feed has showing to: bcb2a92479334b34bd7e312ccbde22c5 -

Inappropriate?Melanie I already posted this, but I will do again. Once I have added the widget on my blog, it broke its markup validation. And all that because of the ampersands. I hope it will be fixed, otherwise I will have to remove it.
