I noticed Pownce shows a person's full name if you hover over it in anyone's friend list. Personally, I'd prefer it if last names were kept private, to me and my friends. Any chance of fixing this?
How do I remove my posts, especially those on my public profile? I really don't want any of the posts I have already posted to be able to be read by the public. Please help. Thanks, Rob
As stated in the Pownce FAQ:
How do I remove my account?
You can delete your account in your Settings. Login to your account first, then go into your settings and follow the instructions there. Sorry to see you go!
It clearly states *delete your account*, however, after following the steps and trying to log back in to test, I get a message stating: "This account has been disabled." not the "Username and password do not match." that I was expecting. I would like my account and history DELETED, or, at the very least, clearly state that you do not actually delete accounts, only disable them. This is misleading and unfair.
I have my location privacy set to friends only and I'm also using Fireeagle. When I do this and log out and then go view my profile, I still see my location in my profile. I even tried stopping the connection with fireeagle and reestablishing it with just city-level visiblity, but it still shows my exact location. Basically what I want to do is share my exact location with friends and no location with anyone else. Actually optimally I'd love to show my friends my exact location and everyone else my city, but I'll settle for the former - which is what I would have expected but this doesn't seem to work. I've had to turn the fireeagle connection off entirely until this is fixed...
You people need to fix this bug and have all of your Friend of a Friend pages removed from Google Cache ASAP. Below is how to find the personal information of each user and their friends. I already deleted my account and told all of my friends to do the same, but I am still able to pull up a Google Cache of my personal information.
C'mon guys. It's been long enough now. There are APIs available for Google and Hotmail. You've already got it working for Yahoo (bravo!). There really isn't any excuse for asking someone to hand over their email password anymore.
I use a lot sets and private messages. I'd like to know if there is a way to share an embed image from flickr which is for friends only or private, because I'd like to share flickr friends-only stuff with pownce friends who don't have an account on Flickr.
Submitting the Flickr URL or the Guest pass doesn't embed the image, and appear just as a link. Is there any user-friendly way to make it embedded??
I have my 'friends list' set to be only viewable by my current friends. I want to keep others on pownce that I may have issues with from seeing my list.
That works out fine until I realized that anytime I post a public note, anyone who clicks on it to read it, will find my 'friends list' to the side of the note.
With that being the case, I'm assuming I can't really hide my list from anyone.
Some users (my wife for one) would like to use Pownce strictly as a way of listening in and sharing in a discussion with the people they already know.
By not having an explicit private mode, and by aggregating that user's friends' public notes onto their pages by default, it makes their profile seem far more public than it actually is.
While you can ignore new friend requests, many of these could be avoided by simply having something say "I am a Private Pownce user and I am only taking requests from people I already know."
This should also have the result of removing/disabling the option to create a public post for that user, to prevent accidental public posting.
