Allow users to mark their Profiles as entirely Private
Some users (my wife for one) would like to use Pownce strictly as a way of listening in and sharing in a discussion with the people they already know.
By not having an explicit private mode, and by aggregating that user's friends' public notes onto their pages by default, it makes their profile seem far more public than it actually is.
While you can ignore new friend requests, many of these could be avoided by simply having something say "I am a Private Pownce user and I am only taking requests from people I already know."
This should also have the result of removing/disabling the option to create a public post for that user, to prevent accidental public posting.

Inappropriate?Thanks for the feedback.
I've changed the public profiles view so that if you have chosen to make your friends list private, your friend's notes don't show up on your public page.
I've also added a preference for setting a default for whom your notes are sent to (http://pownce.com/settings/preferences/).
Please keep in mind that you can view your public profile by going to your homepage and clicking on Public Profile in the right column. Then you can change any of your privacy settings to hide more or less information about yourself.
Our designer Daniel Burka wrote a lot more about privacy on Pownce here:

Would it be helpful to have a warning to other users on your public page if you've chosen all friends-only or private for your privacy settings?
