Flickr Images STILL not showing up properly for my account.
On a sidenote: as a Pro user, I am starting to get disappointed and annoyed by the number of bugs that Pownce continues to have and SIMPLE functionalities that have been suggested by hundreds of users in posts and on the Pownce PbWiki. I understand development takes time and that maybe only a few bug/suggestion reports have been filed, but really not having any bug report feature other than GetSatisfaction is hindering your responses, I think. It's an extra step that prevents the majority of users from trying to contact you.
The more people who report this problem, the more it gets noticed.
The best solution from the company

I've fixed this and it should work by tomorrow. Now Flickr (and Zooomr and Photobucket) usernames with dashes and underscores are recognized and your photos will display in Pownce.
So sorry for not fixing this sooner! Thanks so much for your help in finding this bug.

Inappropriate?Elagothro,
On the side of your actual problem, could I ask what you mean by 'extra step'? I'm assuming you are meaning the extra step of learning a new service to post your issue. How does the experience here compare to learning any other bug reporting system?
I’m thankful for insight
-
Inappropriate?"Extra Step" means having to register and join another site instead of handling all of the bug requests, feature requests, etc in-house using the system itself. Ideally, Pownce should have their own "Feature Request" button / section / etc that is on the Pownce site.
While having someone handle the development of your "Customer Support" application, there are tons of open source applications that provide the ability to track features and bug reports, etc. For web applications and offline applications alike, I am a firm believer of centralizing and not requiring users to utilize anything but the service that they are using. For example, Pownce could have put these exact same forums but with a Pownce flavor on their website as a link on the left-hand nav. Clicking on it could automatically log you in using your Pownce user credentials and take you to their customer feedback area. That way, neither the developers or the Pownce users have to leave http://pownce.com
Essentially, my motto on things like this is: if you have to leave a website to provide feedback on how their website is doing, then there's a problem in the customer-developer communication already.

Inappropriate? On a side note: this is the 2nd time I've posted this problem and gotten no resolution either time.
It's really getting annoying.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Hi,
The link you've posted is to a non-public Pownce note so I can't see it. What is the Flickr url you're sending?
Thanks! -
Inappropriate? The issue seems to be the dash in your Flickr username. The Pownce system is not recognizing that as being a valid character.
For example:
1. http://pownce.com/notorious/notes/843...
2. http://pownce.com/notorious/notes/843...
#1 is a post with the dash still in your Flickr username. The image doesn't appear, but the link works fine.
#2 is a post without the dash. The image does appear inline.
Should be an easy fix. For now, take the dash out of your username and it should work.
I’m crushing ur bugz

Inappropriate?Problem with that solution is that if someone clicks on it to get a better view, they get a broken link.
I wonder if this is a problem in Pownce or in the Flickr API
I’m somewhat satisfied with this "fix".
-
Inappropriate? The "work-around" of taking out the dash is not a good work-around. It doesn't allow people to click forward into Flickr.
If I use my original flickr number (59755778@N00) then it says "original photo by 59755778@N00") (see example: http://pownce.com/dawn/notes/961652/). Yuck.
Is there a way to fix the dash issue or at least include the public name we go by, please?
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? We should be able to adapt to the dash. I'll ping Leah on this and we'll try to figure out the issue. Cheers.
-
Inappropriate?Any image on flickr still does not come up.. how should i post the links?
-
Inappropriate?Click on Link and paste this URL into the first field: http://www.flickr.com/photos/laughing... then click Post It! You should then see the image inline.
-
Inappropriate?I was wondering if the dash was going to be fixed so I don't have to continue pasting in the flickr @number into the URL.
-
Inappropriate?Any word on the dash being fixed? I really would like to start using my Flickr name that has a dash on it instead of the @number.
This is a really big issue for me (it actually has caused me to not post photos anymore on Pownce).
I’m meh.

Inappropriate?Thank you, Leah. This is saving so much more time. It is greatly appreciated.

Inappropriate?I love you, Leah. Really. I actually didn't even realize this had finally been fixed until I tried to embed my first day of my 366 day challenge photos.
I know the life of a dev, and I'm just glad you actually take the time to be interactive with your users. This is one of the reasons I went pro.
I’m loving Leah.
