Fownce - a Firefox browser extension for Pownce
Hey there, I thought Pownce shouldn't be without a firefox browser extension so I made one. I thought that it should be easy/painless/seamless for a typical user to post links(on your address bar) / messages to Pownce from within the browser. I've submitted it to Addons.mozilla.org and its waiting for review. In the meantime, everyone else can still install this extension and check it out.
Let me know if it works just great, or even if it sucks ;) Details are here : http://pownce.com/skeevs/notes/2800417
The installation link is pointing to my blog where I've made the installation link available directly to Firefox. Supports Firefox 2.0 - 3.0*

Inappropriate?Fownce verified 100% from malware, and hosted on softpedia.com : http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Internet...
-
Inappropriate?I installed and tested it - seems like a much needed resource! Thanks for building this - I'll be sure to use it! :)

Anyways, I meant 100% clean from malware above. -

i went to the firefox add on page and signed up and i've tried adding it...
i get this:
-
Inappropriate?djp, try heading over to softpedia : http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Internet...
Download the XPI file from there, and then from within firefox browser -> File menu -> Open file -> locate downloaded XPI
This should install the extension as well. -
Inappropriate?ok, when i download the file from there i have a folder "fownce-0" and inside the folder is the following

where is the XPI???
{i am on a mac}
I’m confused
-
You unzipped it. You didn't install it. -
Inappropriate? How did you end up with a fownce-0 folder ? It should just an XPI file there
-
Inappropriate?very nice
-
Inappropriate?@juniorlikespie thanks, try the new version(0.1.7), gets rid of the annoying alert window :)

Inappropriate?sorry perry... i go to the firefox add on page, log in and try to download the add on and i get the following message:

???
I’m frustrated
-
That message is a problem with AMO. Not with the extension. -
Inappropriate?YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
I FINALLY GOT IT WORKING!!!!!!!!!
firefox downloaded the xpi file correctly and i finally was able to install it!
yay!
working!
excellent!!
thanks!!
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate?good news :) thats kinda unusual... before that it was still displaying the hash file error. Any idea how it got resolved ?
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate?perry, here's my non technical take:
A} addons.mozilla download. no idea why that is not working for me on firefox on my new mac? no idea. i tried a few times, no good.
B} softpedia download. i went to the website in firefox {was using safari before} - firefox downloaded the file correctly, where as safari wouldn't... it seemed to "unpack" it.
- note that me and a bunch of people had the same problem with safari downloading the pownce desktop app 2.0 and "unpacking" it... there is documentation on that here on getsfn.
thanks again perry.

Inappropriate?thanks :) do vote or drop a quick review on the extensions page on addon.mozilla.org if you can. helps the public nomination process to move it out of the sandbox and for public downloads. would really appreciate that
I’m happy
-
You should have enough to push it to public. -
thanks ! -
Inappropriate? The username and password should be saved to the password manager (though it isn't too important). If you do it, be advised that it has changed from Fx 2 to 3
-
Inappropriate?@netMasa I'm using password manager and login manager
