Is Pownce Pro really worth $20/year?
Anybody here signed up for it yet, and if so, why?

Hey there! Pownce is different and special in a whole bunch of ways. First, it's not a massive social network that's ever meant to be everything to everyone. It helps you send stuff to your friends and it does that really well.
The key thing is that you can send stuff to a group of people, or to the public, or to an individual friend. So, say you had a great photo or a song that you wanted to send to a few of your friends... you'd just Pownce it them and they'd be able to grab it and have a quick and easy discussion with you about it.
It's pretty easy to try out, so give it a shot and see if Pownce is right for you. I hope it is.
I’m excited

It took me about 8 months of using flickr before I decided to pay to go pro. With flickr the need for a pro account came only after reaching my 200 picture limit. I assume if you are using Pownce for all your messaging and file sharing the same realization will come when you reach the limits of your free account.

Inappropriate?i bought a pro account and I still cannot send files larger than 10mb. still see ads and my totally awesome badge ;p is still not there. something seriously wrong here.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Personally, I'd miss the ads... the only site where I actually like them
I’m desiring a pro account with ads

Inappropriate?I think I actually turned Pro because I wanted to dedicate myself to the service and prevent jumping off in a couple of weeks. I guess this requires some faith in the abilities of the creative team, but I am confident that Pownce will become a big hit and even far more useful than it is now.
And if it turns into one miserable failure, well, then it's just been 20 bucks, and at least in my book that's not really a lot, I mean even having one decent meal is usually more expensive, right?
I’m confident and excited

Inappropriate?I signed up... took a good three days for my account to show up, so have faith. I don't send files, so the 100 MB limit doesn't really matter to me, but I thought this was something worth supporting.
I've found, however, that having fewer friends makes the tool more usable. If I truly want this as a way to send files to my co-workers and stuff, it gets unmanageable if I have over 50 friends.... just too much junk coming my way to see the important stuff.
On that note, it would be nice if one could filter messages from people in certain groups (or mark them on receipt).
I’m glad I paid the 20 bucks.

Inappropriate?Ergh, that's a bug Jay. We had a few instances of people who didn't have pro payments come through successfully. Can you please email us about it or post your Pownce username here and we'll manually fix it for you. My apologies... that's frustrating.
I’m understanding your frustration

Inappropriate?I'm still having trouble figuring out what this service has that several others don't. At the most basic level, you could post a pic to webshots/flickr or a vid to youtube and email the link, or email an event to a group. Of course, that doesn't have a whole lot of manageability, but facebook's event app seems to do everything the same way. Could someone explain to me the benefits of this? kindaubiquitous@gmail.com
I’m undecided

Inappropriate?I chose to go Pro for a few reasons - music & large file sharing primarily, but also to support Pownce, a service that I use and like (and a company I believe in.) While it wasn't a huge necessity at the time - I wasn't finding myself prohibited from doing anything - I found that after upgrading I *DO* use it a lot more for file sharing. That said, I'm still waiting for mobile updates/alerts before I use it as often as I do for Twitter...hopefully those are coming soon.
I’m content

Inappropriate? Thanks for the quick response. I'm always excited to see new apps and it looks like you guys are on a good track

Inappropriate?I paid for a pro account several days ago, sent my receipt in with an email and still no pro, or a reply for that matter. You would think if a company wanted people's money and for their site to grow and get good reviews they would stay on top of money coming their way. I like the site but if they are gonna be unreliable and slow to respond, or not responding at all to paying customers I'll go elsewhere.
I’m disappointed

Inappropriate?I signed up after an hour or so. I like the ability to send larger files and I'm not a big fan of advertisement, not that the adds in Pownce are very distractive, so the 20 dollars a year seemed very reasonable to me.
I have tried many of the existing social websites and they always felt bloated or their site design was hideous. Pownce is so refreshingly simple and, one might say, elegant. It's social website for grownups.
I gladly paid the upgrade and will most likely keep paying.
I’m satisfied

Inappropriate?I dig Pownce so far , but I'd really dig the mobile updates/alerts also. Looking forward to that being added in the future (hopefully).
I’m dandy.
-
Inappropriate?I think Pownce has a long way to go. Between a sturdy app you can use to update and maybe a badge. $20 a year is cheap, but worth it? Not in my eyes.
I’m unconcerned

Inappropriate?I have paid $20 for the Apps I love! I disagree with dburka on pownce not being used a social networking tool. It is working amazingly well for me. Comparing to using facebook which is more for sending files to friends in conjunction with facebook apps, I am just happy to send random messages to random friends i have on pownce. Why not?
I’m happy to be a pro user

Inappropriate?Hi Drew,
Apologies for the wait. We *just* made some changes to the system to make sure these errors don't occur. I was just about to activate Pro on your account but I noticed you had deleted your profile. I'm going to send you an email in addition to replying here, but essentially, let me know if you'd like a refund or would like me to reactivate your account with Pro.
Again, very sorry about this!
I’m sad

Inappropriate?its called beta for a reason bro, chill out wait for the kids to bring the thunder...
