Pownce SMS
As a college student, I would like to be able to track house parties with friends. If 30 people are sharing Pownce notes with each other on a Friday or Saturday night, there will never be a slow night. Once a party gets broken up or starts winding down, Pownce comes to the rescue.
The more people who like this idea, the more it gets noticed.

A mobile version like m.pownce.com is great for geeks and freaks but has no practical use whatsoever in the real world. I could totally convince the parents in our toddlers group to use Pownce to send status updates to the group whenever they go to the playground - IF and ONLY IF they could do it by SMS. They don't have QWERTY phones, they have never heard of a data package and the concept of a mobile browser just blows their mind. But SMS they know. C'mon Pownce, you have a window of opportunity here to be the first to break beyond the IT crowd. I truly think this is make or break.
I’m hopeful but sceptical

I use m.pownce.com already, but it really is not equivalent to SMS. Yes, the convenience of mobility is there (as long as you have a data package and a phone capable of internet browsing), but SMS would bring a whole new level of flow and accessibility that I feel is missing on pownce right now. Just my two cents worth...

Inappropriate? Thanks for your feedback! Currently we have http://m.pownce.com which is accessible on mobile browsers for posting and reading notes-as-they-happen.

Way to go for the complete copy&paste PR response. -

Inappropriate?agreed....i use the sms on twitter all of the time and it rocks! m.pownce.com is not the same. Please add SMS capabilities (along with greater reliability than the twitter servers) and this will greatly help to bring people over!
-
Inappropriate?I agree. I have an iPhone but being able to use SMS is by far better and MUCH faster then waiting for my phone to load the Pownce page.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I agree with Peter Desmond, SMS would make Pownce significantly more useful for someone like me who is accessing apps from a mobile device as often as I am from a computer.
I’m wishful

Inappropriate?Pownce is way more reliable than twitter at the moment. SMS would be killer. It's the simplest way to communicate while mobile, works on any phone and even old people a use it.
In preparation for adding sms posting/notifications what about adding an extra required 'Status' field to the standard pownce message that is limited to 140 characters.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?SMS FTW !!!! Plus an official facebook app, like repownce, feed imports (like tumblr/jaiku/friendfeed) and jaiku style channels. Then pownce would be the killer app
I’m excited

Inappropriate?I agree with this 100%. The mobile site is really slick, and I have an iPhone, but it's still not anywhere near as convenient as SMS would be.
I’m hopeful

Inappropriate?I would like to put my support behind an SMS component to Pownce!
I’m excited at the possibilities of SMS enabled threads
-
Inappropriate?SMS in Pownce would be a twitter killer. That's fine by me, even if SMS functionality would necessarily be tied to a "Pro Account." I'd be happy to pay for that to get the additional level of service.

Inappropriate?SMS Capability would push Pownce to the head of the race for universally accessible messaging and real-time networking. I know of several bar and club owners who have already started creating groups of their patrons for event and special notifications to help drive business.

Inappropriate?Agreed with Pownce needs SMS... I currently don't have a data plan on my cell, but I do have unlimited SMS.
