Quite hard to tell the difference between events and messages

I'm looking at my desktop client and the only thing that differs from Event and Message or Reply is a small icon followed by a caption in a really small font size.

It would be great if we had some color cues regarding the type of message. Maybe light brown for normal messages, beige for private, green or blue for events and so on. Or put them on different tabs.
