The dreaded white page of death: it's back.
Is there a reason Pownce is down more than usual today?
It's getting to the point where many people are defecting to other sites. I really have tried to defend the site, especially after my last post here (and Ariel's response). It has been better than usual lately, but for some reason today, the site has been down more often than it has been up.
Yes, I am aware of the API problem that happened earlier today, but I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the current problems. I think some of us would appreciate hearing something - ANYTHING - about what the problems are and how quickly you expect to have them fixed. I've been checking the blog, and we haven't heard much of anything, really.
I have been a big defender of you since the last time something happened. I can put up with periodic white pages, personally, but I'm not sure how long that will last for the rest of the general population. I know I'm upset about the lack of acknowledgment of this particular problem. Even a blog post about the outage would have helped. So since I can't post a response to the blog, I'll post here. Can you please let us know what in the world is going on right now?

Inappropriate?Agreed. We are an understanding community, but it's hard to understand when you're not being communicated with.
I’m left out and confused

Inappropriate?Hi Erin,
Apologies! We do believe that this blog post ( http://blog.pownce.com/2008/06/13/sen... )explained most of the issues today. It can take a while for the API to build back up once fixed. Additionally, some were worried that there were security issues (to which we updated the blog post). Again, white pages may occur from time to time due to the previously explained circumstances. Please be assured that in addition to all of us at Pownce experiencing the same issues, that we have a sys admin who gets paged every time the site goes down.
Again, apologies for the inconvenience.

That was the only blog post we'd heard about all day, and it only really made mention of the coding problem that'd occurred. Thanks, though, for letting us know that it was part of the same issue. I appreciate your quick response, Ariel. :) -
Its not fixed. I post, I go to white screen and it doesn't get posted. This is right now whithin the last ten minutes. I am not using some half-baked app I am using your OWN site.
The issue I see the most distasteful about it is that the posts go to nowhere or the page never loads, but your Store is ALWAYS up and running.
Smells real fishy to me. Like build up users so its attractive to a VC angel.

Inappropriate? But the site itself is never usually down, its just not functional... :S We all know that there are problems, any ETA when everything things will be fixed?
-
No current ETA on when everything will be fixed, unfortunately. A lot of these issues require ongoing work, rather than quick code fixes. -
Well, thanks for the quick reply... *keeps trying to get into Pownce =P
