Whats up with SMS integration? That is Twitter's only foothold!!!
You know what I'm saying. I want updates from friends via SMS.

Inappropriate?iPhone specific page, too :)

this is one of the best points

Inappropriate? This is something we're considering doing. With only one developer, we're choosing our new features carefully. Once the API has been released, this will be a possible project for anyone to develop if we don't get to it first. It'll be great to see what people work on with the API... can't wait to get that out there.

Inappropriate?I'd be more interested in seeing Pownce focus on a mobile site than SMS integration. Pownce is more about media, rich data and conversations -- between the public and select users/groups -- and those do not translate well into a broadcasted 160-character text-only system like SMS. Still, I understand why people might want to post updates or route notifications through txt, but having a sweet, lightweight mobile page is much more attractive (especially when you can start adding extra features through it, like piping through transcoders so files are viewable on the mobile, for example!).

Inappropriate?Teradome, I hear what you're saying and I agree completely that a functional mobile site is a huge asset (and I'm glad they've already developed one!), but on the other hand BOY do I want SMS capabilities too! A "160-character text-only system" is PERFECT for micro-blogging, which is exactly the foothold that cupcake 7291 was getting at. I don't think these two options should be viewed as an either/or situation, but rather as complimentary systems that both enhance the pownce experience.

Inappropriate?Twitter has proven that micro blogging and SMS are a killer combination. Anyone can send/receive SMSs from any phone. It's a killer feature.
However I think pownce needs a small tweak to make SMS integration easy. The standard message type need to be divided into 2 fields: a required 'status/title' field that is limited to 140 characters and an optional unlimited 'body' field.
I don't think SMS support is needed for other message types. Not sure if this could be easily implemented without breaking API apps ?
I’m silly ?

Inappropriate?Well, with Twitter now ceasing SMS-reception (though, SMS-posting still works) outside the US, Canada and India, this levels the playing field in the rest of the world, does it not?
Whomever can bring reliabel SMS integration to their microblogging service first will have the advantage.
I’m hopeful for Pownce

Inappropriate?SMS posting would still be a useful (for me at least) and reasonably easy feature to implement though.
I’m undecided whether to switch to just Pownce from Twitter
-
Inappropriate?I have to agree. I can't leave twitter until I get sms capabilities. I'd even be willing to pay for a pro account if that were a feature. I love pownce, but this is just a huge missing feature. It's something that should've been made pre-launch.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I'm interested in SMS features of Pownce. Please let us know of any headway in this regard.
