Every day my email inbox has another friend request from someone I don't know and don't want as a friend. Someone is scanning your database and spamming the general population. Can you do something to make it stop?
I have been having problems everytime I try to log into Pownce. It will never remember my password for signing in. My email is iconjohn@gmail.com I can't get any email help. What gives?
When you remove a friend, all their public posts are removed with them. When you remove a fan, all their public posts stay on your page. Why is there inconsistency between the two?
I cant seem to get the AIR application to install properly. Ive had releases 05 and 06 on my machine, but now I cant seem to get the latest version. I am getting an error message saying that insatllation might not be allowed by the system administrator. THis is on XPSP2 and Im logged into an admin level account. I have removed the AIR runtime from Program Files\Common Files\Adobe AIR and the user specific setting folders from Application Data and Local Settings in my user folder, but the install still fails everytime. I even tried logging into my machine as another user to see if that would work, but no dice.
I really want to get this working properly because I know that I wont hit the website as often as I would run the app on my desktop. AIR looks like it will be a good platform, but its got to work properly for it to get any foothold. And of course I had no luck checking Adobe for assistance...their support and forums have never been very helpful IMO.
Hopefully someone out there has an idea how to fix this.
Mac OS X 10.4, running both version 1.02 and 1.03 under AIR
Pownce messages do not refresh when they come in. Even when I push the refresh button, they don't refresh. It still has the same pownce messages on that were there days ago.
The only thing that seems to work is to close Pownce completely and restart it. But it isn't practical for me to do this as I'd have to anticipate when people are going to send a message and then know to restart.
If someone could tell me how Pownce determines when to refresh, maybe that would help my understanding? I'm not sure where to start. :(
It seems I can't access my own profile, but every now and then I can make it to others...
when I try and login to pownce using the main page, it tells me cookies are not enabled when I know they are (other sites have no issue)
Edit: actually I can view alot of the site, with the exception of my own profile page, you guys should really throw up a notification on your blog when there are problems, I seem to remember there being a notification page when there were problems or pownce had been taken down on purpose, these problems are becoming slightly irritating week after week...
Some weirdness I've noticed with the Pownce AIR app on my macbook:
If there is a scrollable visible window behind the app - i.e. a browser window or the itunes library - when scrolling with the track pad through the pownce app, whatever is running in the back will scroll up and down as well.
When scrolling UP with the trackpad, the scroll often gets stuck or stops multiple times on the way up. I think this has to do with it 'catching' on some Pownce updates that appear with a hard return or two of extra space in the update - so its trying to scroll up the app and biting on the individual updates to scroll through them.
Maybe a change to the way in which the app displays or formats the text will fix this? Dunno.
This is not a problem when scrolling down OR if you scroll up quickly (a hard push with two fingers to get to the top). Also, using the up/down buttons or the scroll bar on the app does not cause any problems.
A single tap of the trackpad to click on the minimize button does not shrink the app; instead the app will wait for the next tap or click anywhere in the window and from that input shrink to the dock. Perhaps related - where on the app you place this second click will determine the rough screen coords at which the window maximizes which clicked from the dock
If you tab away from the app after applying the single click and tab back in, the app is hidden from view on screen and can be recalled by using any display hotkey/hotcorners you have set up. Clicking on the dock icon will not restore it in this state.
Single trackpad tapping the close app button causes different problems:
Sometimes a single click will result in the app disappearing from screen but remaining open in the dock, dropping to the dock and quitting the app from there then quits the app appropriately.
At other times the single click will clear the app from screen but quitting from the dock will not be effective and a force quit is required.
And finally, sometimes the single click works perfectly and pownce takes a nap.
These trackpad-tap related issues do not occur if you single click using the trackpad button itself
I have yet to try this on the windows app via my bootcamp slice or on my PC.
How much of this is the AIR infrastructure and how much is the app, I obviously can't say, also you guys might be all over this stuff, but I figured if Pownce is gonna grow its gotta work - and I like Pownce - so hopefully this isn't late-to-the-party news and it'll help
Exactly how secure is my computer if I download your air app? Am I opening up my pc to the world? When I downloaded it I was presented a mesage box that warned of the possible security risk this application could pose to my computer and files.
I think it would be great to be able to add people I'm a fan of to my sets, instead of just friends. Now that Pownce is no longer invite-only and the number of people I follow increases, I'm having a harder time keeping up with the notes I receive. Right now I can use the "show" drop-down to filter by set, but it leaves out public notes by people I follow who aren't my friends.
For example, I could create a "Pownce" set, add Leah, Daniel, et al. to it even though they're not my friends :(, and use the "show" drop-down to see only their notes. I think it would be a great way to sort through the noise and keep track of notes by my favorite people or the ones I find most-interesting.
I have 1.02 installed on my server and it logs into my pownce account ok but NEVER shows any pownce messages even though there are many there that I can see from the web site
Installed all components successfully. Desktop Client will not let me post files or notes because I need to select recipients. When I try to select no friends appear in the drop down window. I have tried to uninstall twice still no dice.
