Inappropriate?Hi, there could be a couple things going on. Can you check:
1. If you are using Internet Explorer, go to Tools -> Internet Options and click the security tab. Make sure your Security Level is either Medium-high or Medium. The High setting in IE blocks bookmarklets
2. Make sure javascript is enabled on your browser.
3. Try deleting the bookmarklet in your browser toolbar, and adding it again.
If none of this helps, please let me know. If you could tell me the browser you are using, that would be helpful. Also, if you go to www.printwhatyoulike.com and paste in a url, does it work then?1 Comment

I'm having the same problem, either by going to the site and adding the url, or using bookmarklet. Checked your suggested solutions, but they were not problems or didn't fix it. I still can't get the left hand toolbar, so I can't make it work. -
Inappropriate?Thanks for letting me know! Which browser are you using? Do you have the version number?? Also, have you tried using PrintWhatYouLike on different sites- does the toolbar not appear on all sites, or do some sites work ok? The reason I ask is because I've tried testing on the major browsers, but I haven't been able to reproduce this problem. This info will really help me track down what is going on. Using IE 6.0, also running ZoneAlarm, and Symantec AV. Unloaded ZA and disabled AV, but same problem on multiple sites. Currently running on my laptop (XP Pro SP2), will check my home machines next week when I get back. But I can't get it to work on any site right now, with or without ZA or Symantec AV.

Thanks!! The problem is IE6. I tested it in IE6 and got the same result- the toolbar doesn't appear. I'll work on updating the site so the toolbar appears. In the meantime, if you could use another browser such as Firefox, Safari, Opera, Chrome, or IE7, the site should work fine.
PrintWhatYouLike does not officially support IE6, and there are lots of features which don't work correctly on IE6. So if possible, I would recommend upgrading to one of the other browsers. PrintWhatYouLike will work better, as will a lot of other sites.
IE6 is not supported simply because it doesn't include many of the features that make a javascript based application like PrintWhatYouLike possible. Working around those limitations would almost require writing a whole new version of the site just for IE6. Less than 10% of PrintWhatYouLike visitors use IE6, and that % declines every month. So it just isn't worth the effort. -
Thanks for the info. I'm in the process of updating all my computers to IE7 anyway so that should fix things. Thanks for the help.
