I just joined, and I've been trying to fix my avatar. No matter what I do, it keeps bumping back to the picture I uploaded first. On my profile it displays the right one, on my posts and stories, etc, it's showing the old one. I tried deleting it and uploading a new one, but it's not working.

There are a couple of reasons this could be happening.
First off, make sure your browser's just not caching the old photo. Try hitting CTRL-F5 (Firefox) or left SHIFT + Refresh button (IE) and see if the image updates to the proper avatar.
If that doesn't work, it could be that the image you were trying to upload is a format we don't support (we support GIF, JPG, and PNG I believe), or it could be that the image is too large (I think the cutoff is around 4MB, but I'd have to check to be sure.)
If that's the case, then please resize the image first -- or save it in the appropriate file format before uploading it.
There's a great free photo/image editing tool called Paint.NET that you can use if you need to do any formatting, too:
