How about an authour's top 10?
Dear suggestion box,
Usually when I read something that I like, I look at the authour's profile with an interest in reading further. Having taken on the exercise of writing every day, even if I'm not all that inspired, as exercixe so to speak, I know that my most recent posting is not always my best work. In fact, there are some stories I'd really like people to read more than others. Is there a way to accomodate an "authour's top 10" or something on the profile page?

Yeah, if I do it, it'll have to be well-designed. I'm going to have to design some kind of story-linker tool for use in profiles too, not the easiest task unless I re-use the branch linker somehow. Probably going to have to wait on this a little bit as I have a few other more pressing things to get done, first.
I'll see what I can do, though. :)

Okay, now that we've clarified what we're after, I think it's definitely a good idea.
However, it would require an entirely separate interface, so I'll add it to the list but it'll have to wait a while. Unless I can manage to reuse something existing, that is (like the page marking system, maybe.)
I’m confident

Inappropriate? There actually is a "top rated posts" for each author below the recent contributions control on author profiles... it's not numbered, but it's effectively the same. For example, take a look at Jillian's profile -- on the center/right column, scroll down below her recent updates and you'll see "Top Rated Posts":
http://www.protagonize.com/author/Jil...
There's a minimum number of votes required to have a post rated in that list, mind you. I think it's 5 ratings right now. If you want to see more than the 5 shown by default, just use the display items toggle at the very bottom right-hand corner of the page to show more items per category.
Is that what you were after?

Inappropriate?(rolls eyes in feigned disgust) No, Nick! NO! Do you really think I haven't noticed the top rated? I mean, I'm only on here when I'm not sleeping or having a movement! And sometimes, I can do all three at once.
(wink)
What I'm getting at is a little different. More of an authours favourites, like, if you like my stuff, here is what I'd like you to read. Tasha, for example might put up "Waking with Henry", as her #1, let's say because I think that's one of her personal favourites. Although that maybe in her top rated, I think you may see what I'm getting at. Um. OK. One of my top rated is "If I only had my marbles", or something like that. Although I do like that poem a lot, it got there because it gained some readership due do that story being a hot one for a while. There are some stories, though, given my near 100 posts that I'd personally like to spotlight on my profile. So, in a nutshell, a list of *my* personal top rated. That is, "if you like my style, I think you'd like.....and out of all my stories, the ones *I* think you'd most enjoy are.... the ones I'm excited for feedback on,", you know what I mean?
Make more sense?

Inappropriate?I'm in agreement; in fact, I was thinking that before I read it... I would like to showcase my personal favorites of either a) the posts I've written or b) the stories to which I'm contributing. I know i could just write it in my profile, but links would be nifty

Inappropriate?Might you in the meantime, be able to add it to the profile? I know some authors have manually written in a few stories they want read, but perhaps there could be a specific section with slots where members could copy + paste links to their top 5 or 10 stories.
I’m thoughtfull.
