I Can't Figure Out Which Word Is Profane!!
Hi, Nick... I'm currently attempting to post a branch on some else's story, and it won't post because the system is finding profanity in my text (the story is not rated mature). This is an odd problem, because I can't figure out what word is objectionable. I've replaced a number of words that I thought might be the culprits, but still no luck. Is there a list of mature words that I could get hold of? Is there some way for the system to highlight the word or words that it doesn't like? Many thanks. --Eric

Inappropriate?Hey Eric..
Most of the words in the filter are part of George Carlin's 7 dirty words you can't say on TV.. I may have added a couple more for good measure. Drop me an email to bugs@protagonize.com with the body of the post in question and I'll see if I can track it down.
Maybe highlighting the "bad words" is a good idea.. I'll see what I can do but it's tough because it posts back to the editor...
I’m unsure

Inappropriate?Eric, I think sometimes it may catch words with a profanity included within the letters. It wasn't on Protagonize, but last year I wrote a comment on a similar site which included the English place name Scunthorpe. It wasn't allowed lol.
The other day, I signed a comment on Parky's profile, in "nonsense" stylee, because we're writing my nonsense poem "Love Story from a Strange Land" together (shameless plug - check it out) and he calls me things like Toshy and I call him Porko and so on... well I signed it Tashity and the filter didn't like that either. :D

Inappropriate?LOL. Sorry, there's only so much I can do with the profanity filter. I've toned it down a touch today so hopefully it won't catch quite as much stuff that's not terrible... but I'd rather err on the side of caution to protect the younger folk on the site from unnecessary vulgarity. :)
