Word counts
I'd like to be able to see my total word count (across all stories and branches, but not comments obviously). It would be a nice statistic to have in my profile alongside such others there already like average rating and total number of stories and branches.

Inappropriate?Good one. I'll see what I can do about this, though doing it across all branches may be a little more load on the database than I want to throw on it regularly.
I saw a word count on a site I was using in the last few days and also thought it would be a neat idea to add at the story/branch level, at least. If I can do it for your whole account easily, I'll look into adding that too.

Inappropriate?Not sure this would be particularly useful, except maybe for the author themselves to sort of keep track of how much writing they've been writing.
Is it good or bad to have a big word count? A lower word count could mean that you are a poet, or just someone who chooses words carefully. A higher word count could mean that you work harder and write more lengthy, detailed chapters, or it might just mean that you ramble a lot. Sometimes the best writing is short and concise.. other times you need long chapters, say, if you are writing a complex novel. Might this make poets look bad?

Inappropriate?Well that was the angle I was taking. I don't see word counts as a badge of honour or anything, as you say it's quality, not quantity, but it's a nice statistic to have as an author, or at least I think so. -
Inappropriate?Okay, not exactly what you were after, but I've added a live word count to the editor. I don't know if I'll do the cross-all-posts word count as it'd be pretty heavy duty for little return, but maybe down the line, we'll see.
