cuts out constantly
It plays fine for a while (any from a few seconds to a few minutes), and then cuts out. The display says it's still playing, but no sound. If I press pause and then play it comes back either instantly or after several seconds, but will lose audio again in due course. This happens on any station I try.

Inappropriate?Matthew, we are currently working on a fix for this problem. The tuner is losing connection to the selected stream when it is buffering. This fix is our top priority right now and it will be pushed before v 2.0 is released.

Inappropriate?I just downloaded the new version of the tuner today and this problem continues. I deleted and re-installed the application, but nothing changed. This doesn't happen with other radio applications.

Inappropriate?Just as I was posting the above, the following message appeared on the screen:
Playback Error: Audio stream bandwidth too great for network. Please try another stream. Once you click "OK" nothing changes and the music doesn't restart.

Inappropriate?Hello Viken,
Sorry this problem continues with version 1.2. I've already alerted our engineers and we'll keep you posted. -
Inappropriate? This is just unbelievable that you would waste our time with a new version that does not solve this problem -- the main and ONLY problem with the ap! It makes it completely useless and a waste of time. Pandora works perfectly in all situations I encounter with my iPhone, this ap does not work in ANY situation for more than a few minutes. Even with a perfect WiFi connection it cuts out and does not restart after a few minutes. Why is this so hard for you to fix?
I’m frustrated

Hi William,
I'm sorry you're experiencing a connection problem. We spent significant time testing this new version so I'm somewhat surprised and definitely disappointed that this is happening for you. We wouldn't have released it if we didn't think it would have improved things for people using the app.
Would you be willing to participate in our BETA program for version 2.0 which we are working on right now? By participating you'll be able to help us flesh out problems like this earlier and provide direct feedback to the team. If you are interested please post a comment to this blog post: http://www.publicradiotuner.org/?p=440 and we'll get you setup to test things out.
-thanks

Inappropriate? With 1.1 I had the problem of it cutting every half hour, but assumed this was intentional. Now with version 2 it cuts out every few minutes and is impossible to listen to. Please fix ASAP. I used to love this program, my favourite on my iPod Touch.

Inappropriate?Hi Helena, I love this app too as it delivers most of my favorite radio stations. My frustration goes beyond the inability to use the Public Radio Tuner. I purchased my iPod Touch ($380) primarily for this app. Had I known it was going to be a problem, I would have returned it within the allowed grace period. Now, my iPod just sits in a drawer.
I’m extremely frustrated!

Hi Viken,
Could you let us know what stream you trying to listen to. Often times the music streams are running at 128kbps which is to high bandwidth for the Edge and some 3G network areas that the phone is connected to.
If you could give me some more information such as Stream name, network (Edge, 3G, WiFi), iPod Touch OS version, it'll help to track down or at least explain the problems that you are experiencing.
-thanks

Matt, I have an iPod Touch (2nd generation) and I am using a 2.5-3.0 Mbps Wi-Fi to connect to Public Radio Tuner. The problem exists on all radio streams, but it is worse on my favorite radio station KKJZ 88.1 (Long Beach). This particular problem is also worse with the new version as the stream doesn't even last 5 minutes. Previously, it would go from 30 minutes to about an hour. The Wi-Fi is uninterrupted as I don't have this problem with iHeart Radio and/or using the Internet on my computer. -
Viken,
If you're willing we'd love to have you participate in the 2.0 BETA that will be available next week. Having you in the BETA will help us to track down these problems earlier and have direct contact/feedback with the people using the Tuner. To participate just follow the instructions in this blog post: http://www.publicradiotuner.org/?p=440 -
Looks like you have the number of people you need:
"Update: We’ve got our volunteers! Thanks to everyone who offered to help." -
I run the BETA so I'm the gatekeeper. If you're interested you're in. -
Inappropriate?Me too (cut-out issue) . I'm sure you'll quickly come up with a nice fix.
I’m Hopeful

Paul can you provide me with some additional information such as: stream name/call letters, network (Edge, 3G, WiFi) having this information will allow me to track down what might be causing the problem.
-thanks

Inappropriate?I just got the Iphone, and loaded Iheart Radio on it...Even with 5 bars of signal, it still cuts out every minute or so...sometimes for 10-15 minutes...it just buffers.
-
Paul, this is about the Public Radio Exchange app and not the iheart. I am not having problems with iheart, but still not happy with the latest version of PRX.
