Open Source decompressor needed!
Hi,
while I like the idea of a RAW file compressor, I'm pretty sure that no sane photographer will use Rawzor until you publish an open source decompressor for it.
Using vendor RAW files is risky enough, because nobody knows how long software will be available which supports the file format. But at least for the major camera brands several third party tools exist (including open source programs) which makes it rather likely that I can use the RAW files in the future even if the camera maker abadons it.
But if you stop development, the Rawzor compressed files will getting useless over time. So please create a simple as possible decompressor which can decompress any Rawzor file and make it open source.
Ciao,
Steffen

Inappropriate?Steffen, I agree with the need to have a fully interoperable format which can work with all the applications.
While I am not sure about open-sourcing Rawzor, I like your idea of having a just-a-simple-decompressor which can be open-source. That will need some time and effort but definitely something that can be considered, thanks.
In the meantime, I have been happily sharing format details with anyone who wants to support the format and finds the current sdk too restrictive.
Thanks again for the great tip, and for your interest in Rawzor :-) -
Hi Sachin,
making the complete Rawzor open source would be even better, but I can understand if its not desired.
If you provide information about the Rawzor format, why don't you put it on the website? Perhaps someone will use the information to write a simple decompressor. And even if nobody does, having all necessary information available in case of emergency might convince more people to use Rawzor already.
Ciao,
Steffen -
Inappropriate?ok, I thought users won't care but it seems like they might. I will do that.
