Bulk import of books
I've sent feedback, but thought I would add the feature request here too. Unless I'm missing something I don't see the ability to do a bulk add of my books from another service.
That would go a long way to suck me in!
Cheers

Inappropriate? This is a fantastic idea. What services are you using and what kind of data could you provide? Some examples would help me build a parser and get something rolling.
Many thanks :)
I’m excited

Inappropriate?I don't know about Kev Mears, but I have a rather extensive library in LibraryThing. It'd be rad to rock both.
I’m eager
-
Inappropriate?I'm using anobii.com, which allows export in 3 formats. csv,excel2003 or above and html
I can't see an option to upload a file here, but I'd be happy to send you my data.
-
Inappropriate?CSV book imports are now available for Anobii, GoodReads, and LibraryThing. Navigate to Account > Import Books
Any books you've already added will be safe from the import. The import may take a while depending on how large your library is.
I’m excited

Inappropriate?Cracking- just tried it. 130+ books added.
Cheers for doing this so quickly.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?I've used a WordPress plugin to track my reading for a couple of years now, and while it doesn't have an easy export mechanism, I could easily run a query on the DB to get the ISBNs/ASINs and drop them into a CSV. Would it be possible for me to upload a custom CSV? If so, what order should columns be in? What other data would be needed?
Here's the archive: http://www.silverspider.com/book-arch...

Thanks!

Most definitely, I'll have this available very soon. -
Inappropriate?I use Shelfari which exports books as an XLS file. Fortunately, I didn't have many books in my account (<100>t a big deal to manually add each book, but for users with a larger library, it might be an issue.
I’m amused

Inappropriate?Love the fact that an import was added... unfortunately, I've been using Booxter to store my readings, and while it has export capabilities, I couldn't figure out how those export tags mapped to the services available for import (LibraryThing, Anobii, and GoodReads).
I tried to just dump the ISBN numbers into the ISBN import box, but only 10% of ~130 ISBNs could be found. I wound up entering the rest by hand in the Search Books field... oh well, one time data entry and it's done now.
If it helps for testing purposes, I can provide the ISBN list that I was trying to enter..?
I’m mildly bummed out
-
Inappropriate?@Jason - sorry for your troubles. Could you send me the ISBN list you exported? I'd like to see why the others failed. Email it to nathan@readernaut.com if you don't mind.
Thanks man.
I’m curious

Sent via email. -
Inappropriate? It'd be fantastic to import from Amazon, since that's where I do most of my book buying anyhow.
Also, "Account > Import" is now "Profile > Import Books" or just http://readernaut.com/books/import/
I’m confident Readernaut will get even better.
-
Inappropriate?I'm using AllConsuming. I'm not sure there's an export feature on this site (and also, music and movies are mixed in). Shall I continue doing it manually?
I’m a bit ashamed of using AllConsuming.
-
Inappropriate? Is this feature implemented using an OAuth token or is Readernaut using the password anti-pattern to enable screen scraping?
I’m anxious
-
Inappropriate?I tried the Goodreads importer and it worked... sort of. It imported all of the books as ‘books I’ve read’ — there are 146 of 504 where this would be accurate. The rest are wrong. What’s worse is that I see no way to purge my account and start over, though I think the dealbreaker would be being able to import my books from Goodreads. I have a lot of books I’d like to read!
I’m sad.

Inappropriate? In case future readers of this question need the info, the import feature isn't where this string of messages indicates. Go to your shelf. In the SHELF menu, choose IMPORT BOOKS. Spent fricking half an hour trying to find that. :)
