E-Plus blocks Rebtel in Germany
Dear Rebtel friends,
Once again an operator has decided to block our local numbers for calling. Thanks to all users who were quick to inform us about the problem.
This time it's the third largest operator in Germany E-Plus http://www.eplus.de/. We have contacted E-Plus and asked for an explanation on why they are stopping their own customers from calling a standard local number.
However the reason why E-Plus wants to stop Rebtel is of course the very high margins on their international calling. But it's a short-sighted way of stopping any threats to their diminishing margins. Their actions violate not only the EU-regulations but are also a breach of E-Plus customers' contracts. With their rates, lockins and hidden charges they can be 1000% more expensive than Rebtel. Please feel free to compare http://www.rebtel.com/en/Rates/Rates/ to their rates: http://www.eplus.de/Beratung_und_Kauf....
If you are as upset as we are about this please consider sending an e-mail to the E-Plus support. https://www.eplus.de/Beratung_und_Kau....
To summarize, we are sorry this happened. It shouldn’t have to. Enough said is that it has happened many times before but with over 3 million users Rebtel is currently not being blocked by any operator in the world. Except e-plus. The reason why we are never blocked is something E-Plus is about to experience when their users start contacting them.
Take care!
Patric

Inappropriate?Hello,
just as information and to help others, i sent the following email to my service-provider (Debitel) where i got my e-plus-Service from:
MfG
hope this helps! and perhaps, if many people send this out to e-plus and teh service providers, it will fasten up everything?! :-)
best regards
Chris

Inappropriate?Thank you Chris! We really appreciate that you and other Rebtel users are contacting E-Plus and asking them to stop blocking their own customers from calling normal local numbers.
Vielen Dank!
Patric
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?I just wanted to thank all Rebtel friends that contacted E-Plus. You made them aware of the blocking and put enough pressure on them to solve the problems. You should not experience any problems now but if you do please contact support@rebtel.com.
Until next time an operator blocks their own users. Because as long as they have 95% margin on their international calls they will defend their profits with all they have, even if it means frauding their own users.
Thank you again!
Patric

Inappropriate?well, so far they do not seem willing to unblock the numbers for me... two weeks ago they just claimed they'd need to investigate and would get back (which they did not) and today they claimed that they have according to the terms&conditions the right to block chat services---so i would be grateful if you could point me to the european law they are violating... thanks for your help!
