I did respond to the activation email, and every time I come, I am told that the profile is not activated. When I try to save, I find Web Page has timed out. Also, cannot get Widget to install, either way, in new Wordpress 2.7. I am cpetersia@mac.com, real name Chuck Peters. Thanks, Chuck

Sorry for the troubles.
Your profile will actually get activated after you install the widget on your blog. The email confirmation is only for the account.
If you are trying to use Redanyway's wordpress plugin for your blog on wordpress 2.7, we cannot be sure if it will work, as Wordpress 2.7 is still in pre-release beta.
I suggest you to install the widget code in your sidebar.php file found under wp-content->themes->[name of the theme]. If you find this difficult, I can guide you through this process.

Inappropriate?I am using Cutline in WordPress 2.7, which was released last week on wordpress.com. Under that theme, I could not find the sidebar.php you described. There is a link for widgets, but I tried a new "text" widget, and put the code there. All that happens is a portion of the code shows up.
Can you walk me through this?

Inappropriate?Chuck, can you locate a Theme editor in your wordpress dashboard? Where is your blog hosted? Do you have rights to access code files of your blog?
If you do search for a file under root /wp-content/themes/cutline/sidebar.php
if you can locate this file, you can copy-paste the widget code inside it.
