defer a due item for a future point by email reply to alert

It would be great if I had the ability to defer an item that is due today for tomorrow or next week or something. For example when I receive an email alert that an item is due it would be great if I could just email back "tomorrow" or "May 10th" and that will change the due date to the specified day.
