Entering data is super easy - but organizing it...no so much?
This isn't exactly an idea...it's a little more complicated...
I love the way you create tasks/notes/etc. in Reqall - just by speaking into my iPhone, or by typing natural language into a text box. But I find the manner of organizing/accessing that information once it is in the Reqall system to be...I dunno - not very intuitive.. All the information is there...it just seems a little inelegant or clumsy - or inefficient. I don't know - I just don't like the way I sort and navigate, and interact generally with the information once it's stored.
I like the way ReQall accepts data more than most other to-do apps, but i think I like the way most other to-do apps handle the data once it's in there.
Anyone else know what I'm talkin' about?

Inappropriate?Yeah, i think there should be categories that you can place each task or note. A way to organize them into for example Work related, or Personal...
-
Inappropriate?I completely agree. Using Dial2Do and Toodledo is a more effective combination for the huge number of projects, tasks and notes that most of us have. However, nothing comes close to reQuall's elegance at the input stage. You make an excellent point, the input element is just the start and reQuall doesn't quite cut it thereafter.

Inappropriate?I'm placing items in places (categories) to organize..works for me.
I'm also delegating more with my team members.
Have patience with this until you develop your own method. I have. -
Inappropriate?I agree, the info is there but all of the properties tabs for the place, date, time, location etc. should all be popups or slide to select pulldowns so you can tweak and edit each property or any complete any missing details quickly and easily. I don't see a reason to have to go down and use the pencil at the bottom of the screen.
I’m a bit pissy

this is one of the best points

Inappropriate?Hi All- thanks for all of the feedback. This certainly gives us a lot of insight into what you all would like to see!
-
Inappropriate?I heartily agree that organizing and site operations in general has a lot of "low-hanging-fruit" that could make requall a much more satisfying experience.
- Hitting Return is the Search box would normally perform a search. Why use a multi-line search box? Does Requall even recognize a hard Return as something to search for?
- Much of the editing could be in-place in any list
- play audio button
- edit text in-place (click on text to edit - click on edit or details button to go)
- The UI affordances could be much more compact, allowing more data and letting the data "stick out" more
- Print is very low-contrast and hard to notice
- The output of Print, printposts, omits the date added, thus greatly reducing its utility.
- It would be really nice to, say in Settlings, be able to disable some of requall's features. For instance, if I'm using requall primarily as a speech-to-text note-taker I'd like to turn off the keyword recognition. Alternatively, it'd be nice to have a view where I just see the notes unadorned. I would've thought the history view might do this but I have not found this to be the case.

Inappropriate?Hi Joe, thanks for all of the detailed feedback. This helps us better understand what are users are looking for.

You're welcome! If I'm going to be using this product - and I use it a lot - I'd like to do as much as I can to help it be its best self.
p.s. Earlier in my career I was one of the original programmers of FrontPage (which really rocked before Microsoft complexified it!). So I do have a knack and passion for user experience design. -
Inappropriate?Thanks Joe! Enjoy your reQall:)

Inappropriate?I was going to add something about sorting to-do items better, but this seems like the right place. Something as simple as sorting my Memory Jogger "here and now" or my Place entries by date, with dateless entries at the bottom, would be very helpful for me. Right now it all feels cluttered and honestly isn't helping me feel organized... it feels like a pile of sticky notes. My Things list lets me select only to-dos or notes... why can't Places and Jogger?

Inappropriate? The more I add to reqall the more I find the need for the same solution. This is such a great app that is supposed to help organize my life but sometimes I spend way to much time scrolling through the app.

Inappropriate? This hits the issue with reQall on the head. I love the ease of input - especially the voice recognition. It's great for on the road. BUT I find myself still using other apps to plug the gaps. For example - relating notes and todo's to an organisation or project - like GTD Tracks or Action Method or NirvanaGTD or Remember the Milk. (I've tried them all!!) At the moment this is only via locations which is a little clumsy. Link to Evernote is a great idea but seems to miss some data.
I guess it's the Interrelation of data - organisations link to projects link to meetings links to notes links to todo's.
Don't get me wrong - I love this app but I really needs to take some lessons from some of the other GTD apps out there about organising and sorting data. Crack this and it will be perfection.
I guess my final point is the simplicity of reQall makes it great, it is not a project management tool but some simple tweaks to the way data relates and is organised could really help.
I’m loving the app

Inappropriate?stephen_wood,
Not sure if you saw this yet, maybe this thread will help a bit. It is a work around, but, I think this user really put some thought into implementing GTD with reQall.

Inappropriate?Very much agree - the management of tasks is weak; the entry of new tasks is great.

Inappropriate?Thanks for the feedback!
