Inappropriate?Sorry to hear that! Have you tried deleting the app and re-downloading it?
I’m annoyed at the iPhone today.
-
Inappropriate?thanks. i just tried that, and i was indeed able to launch the app.
but then, it wouldn't connect to the server, so i got the message about checking the email connection in safari, then emailing reqall support. so i emailed support, then attempted to return to reqall -- which, once again, won't launch.
I’m still frustrated.
-
Inappropriate?Ugh. Frustrating. A couple of questions: What model iPhone/iPod Touch? What OS? Is it Jailbroken? Were you connected over WiFi or 3G/EDGE at the time?
Sorry for the trouble - we'll get you up and running. -
Inappropriate?thanks.... iphone 3G. os 2.2.1. not jailbroken. wifi.
so, i just went through the entire process again, and this time i was able to sync. (but i was in the car, so that was over 3G.) i saw my notes, then quit the app.
now, i'm back at home, but upon launching the app, instead of freezing, as it did before, i briefly see the splash screen, then the app spontaneously quits.
are we having fun, yet? :-)
i realize this is a major update. so, obviously there are a few gremlins lurking still.
I’m indifferent.

I have the same problem. 3g. I deleted it. Reinstalled. Rebooted. Got it to fire up one time. My data synced. Then when I closed it, hangs and closes upon re-opening to a blue screen with "Reqall" on it. -
Inappropriate?I apologize for the problems you've had. I think these are the result of a couple of issues that we've had. The issues with connecting to the server are due to capacity issues that we've had because of the overwhelming response to the reQall Pro release. We're working to get these fixed as quickly as possible.
We also believe we know what the problem is with the app not launching. Do you have a large number of contacts in your iPhone? The new version integrates with the iPhone contacts. A large number of contacts is taking a long time to process and then the iPhone operating system is timing us out. Unfortunately, the only workaround right now is to trim your iPhone contact list, which we know is not an acceptable solution. We have a fix for this and are submitting it to Apple shortly.
Again, I apologize for these issues. We expect to have both of them fixed shortly. -
Inappropriate? If the app crashing issue is related to a large contact database, then that is certainly my problem as well. Cutting down my Address Book is not an option.
I hope you can get the fixed version released quickly. It's a big drag not having reQall accessible on my phone.
I’m marginally relieved that at least the problem has been identified
-
Inappropriate? We're QA'ing the fix now. As soon as we're done with that, it goes to Apple. They typically will approve things quickly that are related to crashes, so we are hopeful that we will have a solution soon.
-
Inappropriate? Thanks for the quick response; glad to hear it.
However, I'm assuming that the fixed version will allow the user to completely turn off the contact analysis feature on the first launch of the app?
I can't be the only person who is very uncomfortable about reQall "integrating" my iPhone contacts without expressly asking my permission FIRST. This should not be an automatic "feature" on startup; if it is, I'll have to reconsider using reQall at all. I have no interest/need for reQall to integrate my personal contact database.
thx
I’m nervous about unauthorized access to my personal information
-
Inappropriate?@Deb,
Yes, I have a lot of contacts. I look forward to your upcoming fix. -
Inappropriate?@Scott,
You know, I'm going to "stand on a soapbox" for a moment. I'm really tired of paranoid users going on and on unnecessarily about "privacy," as if someone is really interested in *your* personal information.
When reQall (or other apps) access your contacts or location, etc., there's no one at the other end actually looking at your data! The app accesses the data in order to perform a function that will assist you. There are 30,000,000 iPhones and iPod touches roaming around the planet -- and that number grows every day. What makes you think that someone in the reQall offices is interested in your personal data? This notion that apps that access your data are committing some sort of "infringement" of your rights simply has to stop. You're being ridiculous and, frankly, downright childish.
I have names and numbers of major celebrities in my contact database -- celebrities whose work is literally in your CD and DVD collection, right now. But I'm not worried about reQall's contact integration, because I KNOW WHY THE DATA'S BEING ACCESSED! And so do you. It's not being collected or utilized by anyone.
So please -- stop this childish whining about privacy. There are no humans accessing your data. There are no humans who even careabout accessing your data. (The moment that actually happens, that developer will be shut down, due to lack of support.) reQall is only accessing your contacts to give you FEATURES. It's there to help YOU.
That said, an option to enable the integration would be fine. I'm just sick of people whining about privacy -- and giving apps poor reviews in the app store -- not because the apps don't function, but because these paranoid people get all worked up because an app accesses their data. Then, regardless of its functionality, they give it 1 star.
So an app accesses your data. So what?! Grow up.
End of soapbox. :-) -
Inappropriate?First: the fix has been submitted to Apple. Send good thoughts to the Apple folks to approve it quickly. :-)
Second, let me explain what we do and don't do with contacts. All we do is use your iPhone contact list to populate the list of people that you can assign an item "For". If you go to Add or Edit and then select "For", you'll see the list of your iPhone contacts plus your reQall contacts. This was meant to simplify the ability to share items and satisfy user requests to share without loading contacts into reQall. Once you've shared an item with a contact we then make them a "reQall contact". Until you do this we don't do anything with the contacts other than populate this list--we don't copy them to the reQall servers; they never leave your iPhone; they aren't in our database. Does that help?
Deb -
Inappropriate?I would also like the ability to turn off accessing my contacts. But not for security reasons, for speed reasons.
I have over 5,000 contacts and I don't need to assign any items to them.
It bugs me that Google Maps searches my contact when I type the first letter... it takes fives seconds to return a list of probably contacts and 99 times out of 100 I'm searching for some place isn't a contacts address.
I'll add this idea as a suggestion, or add my name to whoever did that already.
Thanks for Reqall. It's a wonder app when it works...which was always until v2 came out.
Any idea when Apple will approve the fix? I have trouble with 5 seconds delays so you can imagine what 5 days is doing to me.
I’m tired of waiting
-
Inappropriate?Deb,
Any way to retreive the 1.0 version again for the folks that have the "too many contacts" issue? I still like the orriginal but obviously when I updated to 2.0 I can no longer use the orriginal app.
Thanks for your reply. -
Unfortunately Apple doesn't allow us to easily make multiple versions of the application available to users. The new version of the app has been sitting in Apple's hands for almost a week at this point - believe me, we're at least as eager to see it released as everyone here is to install it! -
Inappropriate? This is silly (and I agree...useless)...the program is virtually useless without the iPhone app.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?New version of reQall for iPhone is on the app store. It should fix the load problems related to a large number of contacts.
-
This is great news. I downloaded and was able to open the app right away. So far so good as of 4/3/09 Thank you -
Inappropriate? This is great news -- however, it's been 2 hours since Deb's post, and I still don't see the update in the App Store; only v2.0. I didn't realize it could take so long for an app to show up in various markets.
Eagerly awaiting....
-
Inappropriate?UPDATE:
• App Store from iTunes still shows v2.0.
• But App Store from iPhone shows v2.0.1.
• Downloading via iTunes, you do get v2.0.1 (even though it says you're downloading v2.0).
-
Inappropriate? To the folks at Reqall. Great software. This was a major issue for me, but I found this forum and email updates very helpful to keep me current on this issue. Thanks.
1 person says
this solves the problem
-
Inappropriate?Personally, the new update does it all...now if I can just learn the whole darn program...it seems like it will be a real winner!
Thanks Get Satisfaction!
I’m thankful
