I use 2 different PCS and have a complete portable apps suite on my USB drive, ( courtesy http://portableapps.com/ ) so that my programs and settings go with me whereever I go !!!! ..
It would be great to have a portable version of the RescueTime Data Collector .. with everything ( settings, exe , logs ) at a single location..
I'd like to see how much time I've spent working with the current application. (In case I want to spend only so much time). Maybe this information can be shown in a hint label for RescueTime in task bar? Thanks.
See my previous post "Need better way to delete erroneous tags and favorite tags"
Can you allow users to download a spreadsheet/csv file with three columns.
App/website (or however you are recording it at finest level of detail)
Tag (or tags)
Classification (only to make it easier for me to chose my own tags)
Note: if its simpler a separate record for each tag when an app is multiply tagged is fine.
Allow me to manipulate this off-line NOT to change App/website or classification but just to retag the apps using (say) Excel to drag tag's to multiple apps etc.
Probably a separate column where 1 means add and 2 means delete the tagging of an app
I have my apps tagged as:
AppA:tagA, tagB - AppB:tagC - appC-tagA
eg you send me:
appA tagA classA
appA tagB classA
appB tagC classA
appC tagA classB
I send back:
appA tagA classA X
appA tagK classA
appB tagC classA X
appC tagL classB
result after you update is:
AppA:tagB,tagK - AppB:<no> - appC-tagA,tagL
ie. don't touch app-tag combos I don't send back and make requested additions/deletions.
You mentioned in a separate post that XML could "somehow" be acquired by users. If that's a lot easier for you then I could probably generate a syntactically correct XML file to cover above but IMO using CSV would be a lot easier for most
Just wanted to add another browser to your list. I currently use Maxthon, and it'd be great to log what sites I visit using it. In fact, Maxthon is my "work" browser and Firefox is my "fun" browser, so the Maxthon data would actually be more useful for me.
i use a number of web apps (basecamp, assembla, sharepoint) to manage my projects. it is not enough to summarize that i spent 2 hours on Assembla, because I was working on 3 different projects during that time. There should be a way to specify RegEx against the URL. This will allow me to tag "www.mywebapp.com/ProjectA/..." separately from ".../ProjectB"
Currently when a computer is locked, rescuetime stops logging (as expected).. But when coming back from unlocking the computer, rescuetime doesn't resume logging; it requires specifically re-enabling logging from the user.. Is there a setting to automatically re-enable the system, or is the manual method the only way??
hi
is there a way to use rescue time in 2 differente computers with the same email but with diferent information, in case 2 people using the computer at the same time?
I work from home as a Customer Service Rep for a major credit card company. I use the PC exclusively for that 6-8 hrs/day 5 days/week. I just began using RescueTime this week, and today, about 1200local my RescueTime cpu usage went to 98%, severely impacting my ability to do my job. Right now, it is varying between 70% and 90%. Reported by Windows Task Manager. I will have to remove RT if i cannot resolve this issue.
We've just published a update to the Windows Data Collector.
0.9.7.21 - 2007/12/05
Bugs Fixed
* There should be NO MORE multiple end times for records. If you notice any log entries with more than one end_time, please let team@rescuetime.com know.
* RescueTime will now recognize when a user has locked the machine (Windows-L) or CTRL-ALT-DEL "Lock Computer" and immediately stop logging time.
* Fixed spelling in the CTRL-ALT wording on the Basic tab
* Fixed issue with missing time when Internet Explorer was not able to resolve URLs.
New Features
* The debug log now contains the name of the log file that is being sent to the Web Service. This should help in tracking down problems since users will be able to quickly identify the log file
I would like to be able to exclude certain websites and programs from being tracked on particular computers.
For instance, at home, I remote-desktop to my work computer, which is also running rescuetime. But rescuetime would track the use of mstsc (the remote desktop software) in addition to my usage on the work computer -- I would like to avoid that double-counting.
And, to be honest, I'd rather not my visits to certain websites be tracked.
Rescuetime tracked my time usage for a few days, and now says it has no data for me. I use firefox and have AVG spyware and Windows Defender active. I tagged many sites and that is also now lost.
I've been using RescueTime for two weeks now and am really enjoying it. I have two feature requests that I believe would double the value for anybody who uses MS Outlook.
1) Intergration to Outlook to record scheduled meetings (appointments of type Meeting or Recurring Meeting).
2) More granular recording of Outlook time (I spend about 30% of my time in Outlook it would be really valuable to understand what is spent on Tasks vs Mail etc).
So it's reported as an application and no site details. I usually have around 100 tabs open evenly distributed between "work", "home" and "personal" topics.
