When I try to change my tags on windows explorer (which I mislabled and wanted to change) but when I do the changes wouldn't take place and I receive the message:
undefined local variable or method `owner_col' for #
I'm new here but I don't think this should be happening. :)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
I can't tag any apps because RescueTime doesn't see any apps on my computer. How can I get Rescuetime to see my computer's apps (e.g. Word, Outlook, etc.)? marc@marchankin.com
Yesterday, I updated my .NET Framework to SP1 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/de...)
Since then, the data collector stopped working and crashes on startup. Reinstalling the data collector didn't help.
I know that the Windows RescueTime collector is a .NET application, so I should have expected this... It's partly my fault, I guess.
I have installed (3 times I uninstalled & re-installed to ensure); my email and login is verified; application always shows as RUNNING. But its reporting zero activity. What am I missing?
I'm another person that has to keep a time log (I'm an attorney, please don't hold it against me. I'm a nice one.) I often work for a couple of hours, then realize that although I was doing a lot the last two hours, I'm not sure which client I was actually working for. Every few hours I take the time to jot the time down, figure out how many hours pass since the last time I figured out my time, then try to estimate as accurately as possible what I was doing and who I was helping for that period of time. I generally then just multiply the time by the percentage for each client, and book my time that way.
Your product could help me a lot with this. What I'd like is a "start" field and a "stop" field where you could enter two times. The app could then send back a report that lists how much time I spent per tag and page/application etc. during that time period. It could report "idle" time during that period, too. It would be even better if it could display a timeline of that period too, and show the activity as time progresses. That way if I see some idle time mixed in with a bunch of time spent in MS Word, I can assume that time was "idle" time was probably spent working on the same project as what I was doing in Word. It seems like you are already capturing all the data that's needed for this, it's just another way to display it.
The possibilities that this product offers are endless. Great job so far!
I installed RescueTime on my imac on the 8th of April and everything was working great! However, now when I go to my dashtop it will only give me data fro the 8th and not the 9th or 10th? I made sure the application was still installed and even tagged dozens and dozens of apps/sites. What is wrong? Why doesn't it display data for the other days?!?!
I have 2 alerts that I set up, that it does not log my time and I have apps tagged with that keyword. I have other alerts and it is tracking those just fine.
Does it have to reach a certain amount of time before it show up on the tracking bar?
I'm working on a custom web proxy that the RescueTime app would use to relay it's updates through. The primary goal is to allow me a chance to reformat the time events and give them more a more specific app_name so that I can tag them with more ganularity. From looking at the discussion boards, it seems that this feature may be built into the app at a future time, but by using a proxy, I can also trigger sending time events to another time-tracking system.
Right now, I can use my proxy with a web browser and (although slow) it works fine but when I point my ResueTime app to it, it times out on trying to receive the handshake response.
Is there a way to change the timeout of the RescueTime app(Windows)?
I'll be happy to post the proxy script when I get it working.
How can I separate the activity of different users on windows XP. When I am at work my wife uses the PC. I would like to be able to tell what is my activity and what is hers. I don't want them lumped together.
When I installed rescuetime, it was working perfect. It logged about 1 - 1 1/2 hours of activity and then all of a sudden the updates stopped. I clicked the update button and it said "Error: Details in Debug Tab" so I checked it and this is what I got.

When I start up in the morning Rescuetime reports "Cannot find file in Documents... (and some more I cannot see in the windows)" under the login details.
I can manually click Verify and it logs in perfectly.
I have moved "My Documents" to a network drive - may that could explain something.
I have a mac, MacOS 10.5, and RescueTime keeps logging the time even when I put the computer to sleep.
Yesterday, I checked the weather and decided to go out, and put the computer to sleep. When I came back, I waked the machine, and RescueTime now shows one hour and a half on weather.yahoo.com.
I had this happen again today for less than one hour.
However, it seems to be working fine when the machine sleeps for more than 4 hours. The time is not being logged in that case. (I've not tried sleeping between 1:30 and 4h, so the limit, if any, should be within)
The website reports that the last data update was received from my computer at "04/08/2008, 09:30:07", but the graphs don't show any data after 11am yesterday (i.e. nearly 24 hours is missing).
I've checked that everything is enabled, and can't see anything that's obviously wrong.
Any help you can provide will be much appreciated.
I suspect that my time isn't being logged correctly. In one particular hour I spent my time in applications tagged with "work". The graph for that hour says I spent 9 minutes on work and 48 on "everything else". I've looked at the logs of all the apps and sites and I can't see enough time spent during that hour to make up the 48 minutes.
