    Goals per week or month

I would like to be able to set goals over a period other than "day" and "weekday". Specifically, I would like to say "at least 1 hour per week on tagX".

Can't download .NET framework 2.0 runtime Last reply on June 30, 2008 14:12.

I tried to download and install RescueTime and it said I had to have .NET Framework 2.0. I clicked OK to download .NET Framework 2.0 and got an error that it could not find the server at Microsoft. I have gone directly to the MS download site with the same results on several days at differing times. What's going on? Does my system have a bug/virus which is preventing this download? I am running Windows XP Professional.

    Improving the weekly summary

The weekly summary should be talking not only about the app but also about the category and tag. Even butter, we should be able to tel what kind of data we want to see in this summary and if we want them to be visual or numbers.

On the other side, it would be great to know in the summary how the ranking of apps/category/tag changed, with for exemple: "n°6: iCal (Last week: 2nd)" or with a up/down arrow, green if the app is productiv, red if not.

RescueTime crashes Firefox 3 Last reply on July 03, 2008 01:23.

I installed Firefox 3 recently the day it was released. It was very stable. I tried RescueTime for the first time a few days after that. I noticed that FF3 started to crash randomly all the time. It even crashed while running in safe mode. Not able to figure out what was causing this, I suspected RescueTime and turned it off. I noticed that FF3 works fine when RT is turned off. This could be a bug with RecueTime. Please have a look at this bug, since it means that I won't try RT until it's fixed.

I'm running FF3 and RescueTime on WinXP (with all recent Service Packs installed). I've noticed this crashing behaviour on both my work PC and laptop, both of which are running the same mix of software.

Bug: weekday goals ignore "Start of the Week" setting Last reply on June 29, 2008 15:48.

My work week starts on Sunday. I marked Sunday as "Start of the Week" in my settings page. I've set up a goal of "at least X hours of work per weekday". However, this goal ignores Sunday.

    Thanks,
    Zviki

System tray icon doesn't appear when started Last reply on June 20, 2008 18:21.

In the last few days, I've seen a problem where the system tray icon doesn't appear, even though the process is running. The first time it happened, I rebooted, and it reappeared. Today I had to reboot twice before it appeared. Also, when I looked at the preferences, it showed an error that it could not access a logfile because it was in use by another process. I don't know if these error are related, but it's quite a coincidence.

New Tab called "All Apps" instead of "All Apps & Sites"

How about having a tab called "All Apps" instead of "All Apps & Sites" - This allows us to view our apps usage alone without having to view websites along with it? Else, I believe I will have to go and add another filter called "offline" and tag all my apps again so that I can view just apps.

High CPU Usage while viewing Dashboard with Firefox 3 Last reply on June 19, 2008 06:25.

Seems the problem with the high CPU load while viewing the dashboard is back with Firefox 3.
I installed the final version of Firefox 3 today and now the cpu usage rises again to nearly 100% when viewing the dashboard.
Flash version is 9.0.124 and OS is Windows XP.

List view and App/Site detail view still work fine.

Productivity Measure Not Meaningful Last reply on June 16, 2008 16:09.

The Productivity Measure is not meaningful in its current form. Currently the Productivity Measure, as I understand it, expresses what percentile the user is in productivity compared with all RT users. However, this percentile is a function of the arbitrary productivity values that I assign to my tags. Furthermore, if my average productivity percentile is in the 90s the day-to-day variation is quite small and hard to observe.

Instead, I suggest making the producitvity a cardinal measure (or at least provide that option). For example, it could simply be the time of an activity times the productivity of that activity. This way, I can compare my productivity across units of time (days, weeks, months) in a meaningful way (eg. I could say if I was twice as productive one week versus another). In the current form there is little meaningful way to compare productivity levels, one can only rank order them.

Lastly, I would suggest making the productivity of an activity the sum of the tag productivities, and not the average. This will make it easy to both assign a given productivity level to a particular activity and to create a system of tags to visualize how one spends one's time. For example, if I want to create a super-set tag of all my "work" activities, it will change my productivity scores no matter what value I set the super-set productivity at. It would be better if one could tag activities without necessarily changing their productivity.

A similar cardinal measure for Efficiency would also be useful (eg. productivity/time on computer).

If you are concerned about disturbing the current system, them you could implement these suggestions as options for advanced users.

I look forward to your comments.

    Idle Time

Is there any chance of tracking idle time as a separate category?
I'm really interested in the amount of time the computer is just sitting there and doing nothing. THAT is what is really costing me money.

User-defined splitting of large sites Last reply on July 03, 2008 19:55.

Currently, all of Wikipedia is tracked as a reference/search site. That's not entirely true :) I would like to know how much time I spend editing Wikipedia and how much I just use it for reference. A few simple regular expressions, such as en.wikipedia.org/*[Tt]alk:* or looking for action=edit, would do the trick ...

Wouldn't it make sense to let users split up sites themselves?

    Splitting apps over multiple tags?

I want one item to have two tags and have the time split between those two items. Is that possible? I use Outlook for both work and personal and preferably I'd like to be able to set up a ration (for example, Outlook should count as 2/3 personal, and 1/3 work)

Can I see the number of times I've accessed something? Last reply on June 06, 2008 22:16.

Can I see the number of times I accessed something, not just the total time? For instance, how often am I checking my email to make it add up to an hour? Is that once and working in it for an hour, or am I killing my productivity by checking every 3 minutes?

How long is a working day?

maybe I've missed this but can RT log the time from when I logon my computer to when I log off i.e the hours in my 'working day'? That way I can see how much time I'm spending away from my PC and how long a 'real' day is rather than a preset time.

Leopard and RescueTime: Not logging internet activity Last reply on June 05, 2008 07:02.

Upgraded from Tiger to Leopard. And upgraded to Firefox 3.0. RescueTime is not logging any of my Internet activity. I tried Safari, but that didn't work either (clearly a leopard issue).

All the other posts concerning this issue are over 7 months old, otherwise I wouldn't post again. Has a solution been found?
