Inappropriate? Thanks for dropping us a line! Can you tell us:
1) What version of MacOS you're using.
2) Whether you're using FileVault.
We're seen some issues with FileVault-- we're working on them as we speak.
I’m confident

Inappropriate?Peterch,
Could you email me at team@rescuetime.com with the email account you are using for RescueTime. I'm working on FileVault fixes and am hoping I can enlist your help in testing them. Unfortunately for us, we haven't been able to consistently reproduce this problem from our text OS X systems (even with FileVault enabled), so any help you can provide us will be great!
Thank you!

Inappropriate?I have exactly the same problem.
OSX 10.4.11 with FileVault.
Any resolution yet?
I’m sad

Inappropriate?Tozierz,
I'm working on this issue today and would love some assistance in testing it, since I am unable to reproduce the issue on any of our test systems.
If you are willing, please send an email to team@rescuetime.com with the email address you used to sign up for RescueTime.
Thank you!

Inappropriate?I have a similar issue, but am not using FileVault and get a "failed to connect - check network connection". My network connection is just fine, and I even managed to send an update.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Do you get that same error when trying to "Verify" your login information from the Basic tab?
If so, you can run the steps below to see if there is an issue between the RescueTime servers and your computer:
- Check to make sure your machine is able to communicate with the RescueTime servers outside of the data collector. To do this, open a web browser and paste in the following URL:
http://api.rescuetime.com/api/handsha...@test.com&password=test123
The result that should be returned back is: "login failure!"
- Next, do the same test but this time replace the test123 next to the email and password fields with the email address and password of your RescueTime account.
For example: http://api.rescuetime.com/api/handsha...@email.com&password=mypassword
The result that should be returned back is "login success!"
Let me know the results of those tests and we'll go to the next step.
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?that worked... and still get the same Error: failed to conn.... . #6 error.
-
Inappropriate? The #6 error tells me that RescueTime is not able to resolve the host. This could be due to the SSL feature we recently introduced.
Try going to the Privacy tab in the RescueTime preferences and uncheck the "Send updates using SSL". See if that still gives you the #6 error.
