Feature Request: Treat untagged browsing as...
I tag a lot of websites I visit, but there's no way I'm going to tag them all - and nor should I.
So any websites I don't tag as something else should probably be tagged as "browsing" or the like.
It would be great if there were an option so that all untagged browsing could be treated as if it were tagged with whatever tag I specify.
(This obviously wouldn't apply to untagged applications.)

Hey Mark-
Cool idea! RescueTime was (originally) built on the idea that most of people's time was spent in 10-20 different apps and sites. We had no idea that the "long tail of browsing" would represent such a huge slice of how people spend their time.
Sooo, I've felt the same frustration.
We're prototyping an "autotagging" option now that will allow you to automagically tag sites based on all sorts of criteria (including doing what you're mentioning).
Stay tuned for that!

I do work browsing (e.g. resolving bugs), and personal browsing. I need to record the two seperately. Anything you can come up with so that I can track the significant percentage of time browsing would be grand.
I can think of two ideas:
1) I use different browsers for personal and work usage and tagging is per browser? (trying this with Opera/Safari but having other issues with rescuetime at present)
2) Perhaps detect where I followed link from - e.g. if I open a web page using a page that was tagged for work, tag it also as work. Sounds difficult to do though!!! Would mostly work though...

Inappropriate?Sounds great. For what it's worth, My top ten apps only represent 55% of my time, and my "untagged apps" are my fourth largest "tag" on the new bar chart. That's despite me tagging almost everything I've spend more than five minutes on.

Inappropriate?Definately a 'virtual' tag system would be great, where all web usage is categorised under web or the name of the browser, but would still need to come up in the 'untagged' list so that users can clarify for time intensive stuff. Also, regarding the 'long tail' of browsing, it would be nice if tags with huge times (web, other) could be filtered out optionally when displaying app usage charts to leave more resolution on the small items..
