Mac OS X: Firefox 3 beta launches when opening Firefox 2 while data collector running
Firefox 3 beta (GranParadiso) is automatically launched whenever I launch Firefox 2 while the Mac data collector is open.
1) Have both Firefox 2 and Firefox 3 beta installed on OS X
2) Open the RescueTime data collector
3) Open Firefox 2
Closing RescueTime data collector before opening Firefox 2 fixes the problem.

Inappropriate?Unfortunately this is a known issue. When RescueTime attempts to communicate with Firefox to get the active URL, it uses the application that is registered to org.mozilla.firefox. Both Firefox 2 and 3 use the same registration, so RescueTime tries to communicate with the most recent registration regardless of which version is open.
This was done to prevent another issue where the OS X Finder was not able to locate where an application is installed just by the Process Name (which would then pop a dialog asking the user to locate the app).
I am working on a re-write that will communicate by Process ID, but I am still a couple of weeks out from having that ready for testing.
I haven't tried playing around with tweaking the Firefox 3 file id registration to see if I could successfully get both browsers to work at the same time, but I might do that and let you know the process if it works.
Thanks
