Plugins for as many apps as possible?
It would be really helpful if you could offer plugins to talk to all sorts of apps. In the same way that you pick up the current domain of Safari windows etc, could you get the window title or document name so rather than logging just "TextMate", you could log "TextMate - MyProjectName" - the same goes for IntelliJ (once you've cracked java apps), Eclipse, Photoshop, Coda, Pages etc... so you can see which project you're working on rather than just the type of activity you're engaged in...

Inappropriate?I agree, this might be kind of hokey, but eclipse gets a file lock on a [workspacedirectory]/.metadata/.lock. (At least in windows). That could be the key to eclipse anyway.

Inappropriate?I know it's possible to get a hold of the window title bar information for a window. Often times it has some information that can be used to differentiate between tasks and projects. Maybe the first order approximation would be the ability to have matching strings for the window captions (TimeSnipper uses this approach).
In my case I store documents related to different projects in different directories. Ideally it would be nice if RescueTime could see what the title of a document is:
Proposal.odt - OpenOffice.org Writer
And then it would know that Proposal.odt is under University directory (by scanning directories) and this directory is tagged as belonging to a certain project. This approach does not require plug-ins, but there are could be issues with similar file names and requirement to scan directories periodically. -
Inappropriate? In most cases we are capturing the window title, however we haven't deployed the features yet to take advantage of that information. Look for it in the next couple of months!

Inappropriate?great news! This would work for me in categorising my Outlook based activity. As a programme manager, that (and web browser based applications) constitutes 90% of my work! Until that is in place, tagging doesn't work for me, as it isn't granular enough. hmm, i'll make this as useful too while I'm here.
I’m expectant

Inappropriate?Looking forward to it. I'm in the same situation as nickdjones and I agree that for my and my coworkers it is not granular enough. But hoping for this feature, shud be optional, to be deployed as soon as possible.

Inappropriate?_Any_ plug-in system would do. Do you have any *specific* plans for it?
