Reporting sites never vistied, and with long durations
Hi
I am noticing RescueTime reporting sites which I have never visited at all - that too for long durations. For example sites like plusmo.com, dir.blogflux.com. I repeat I have never ever visited these sites, whereas its reporting durations of 44 min for dir.blogflux.com.
And today surprisingly its not reporting the sites I actually visited, and is reporting this last dir.blogflux.com.
Please could you help.

Inappropriate? In the past we have seen certain browser plugins and toolbars (especially search toolbars) redirect traffic through strange websites. My suggestion is to first check to make sure you haven't inadvertently installed any adware software by running AdAware, which you can get for free from:
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/a...
Next, you might try disabling plugins and addons for a day to see if that clears up the strange websites.
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?Thanks for replying.
I will try AdAware, and then will also try disabling browser plugins and toolbars.
Then will get back.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Hi,
Just an update...
I tried AdAware yesterday. It reported one site www.go2net.com/useless, removed it.
Still I am getting 127.0.0.1:81, with high usage.
Now am going to create new clean firefox profile, to work without any addons altogether to see if this is the problem.
I’m undecided

Inappropriate? Thanks or the update, do you use a proxy server? With an address of 127.0.0.1:81 - that is pointing back to your local machine on port 81, which is usually an indication of a proxy, which would explain why you see time logged against it.
-
Inappropriate?I use Proximitron local proxy for IE7 (my secondary browser) but not for Firefox. I haven't checked yet to see how IE7 visits get recorded.
Is this likely to have same symptoms vikramsjn reports?
If when I get a chance I'll post back results. -
Inappropriate?Hello Joe,
Thanks for replying. I been under pressure so missed the update.
I do use proxy server but there is nothing running on my system on 127.0.0.1. The proxy is on different machine. I confirmed this using TcpView.
Today I ran just Firefox, and that too behind fiddler, to get log of all that is passing and coming to Firefox. To my surprise today RescueTime is reporting 15 min of visit of hindu-blog.com, but I just did not visit this site today.
I then confirmed this in Fiddler session log, and on finding word 'hindu' the only session highlighted is that of Resuetime, and the word is in HTTP response.
I only access hindu-blog.com from Google Reader, and last time I accessed it in Reader was certainly not in past two days (have confirmed this with TimeSnapper logs)
Thanks
I’m undecided

Inappropriate?vikramsjn,
Could you send me an email to team@rescuetime.com from the account you are using for RescueTime, I'll take a look at our incoming log files to see if I can determine why you are seeing this.
Thanks!
