Should the icon in the Menu Bar (Mac) be clickable?
Right now the RescueTime icon in the Menu Bar isn't clickable. Should it be?
I've tried restarting the app multiple times with no luck.

Inappropriate? You're right, the icon should be bound to a menu. For some reason it is not displaying. I've added it as a bug and will be releasing a fix soon.
Thanks!
Joe
I’m anxious

Inappropriate? It would also be great if it could run only in the mac menu bar and not in the dock.
I’m wishing it wasn't in my dock

Inappropriate? The Menu Bar icon should be once again clickable with version 0.9.0. There have been reports of new installations still having this problem, but restarting RescueTime right after performing the initial install should resolve that.
The ability to remove the icon from the Dock menu is on the to-do list!
Thanks!
I’m excited

Inappropriate? It would seem like the Menu Bar icon is again unclickable in 1.0
I’m staring at a cluttered dock.

Inappropriate?Thom, I don't know why this happens periodically on some systems. I have had reports that a restart of the computer will work, or even sometimes just quitting and restarting RescueTime.
Let me know if either of those work for you, I'll keep trying to track it down on my end. I've got some changes scheduled for the Menu Bar icon in the next couple of releases, so hopefully the reworking of that code will help alleviate this annoying issue.
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?I actually can't even get a hold of rescue time in the dock now. I have the icon, i'm signed in, but i can't seem to click anything. I would love to be able to restart but I can't even get to that point! any suggestions??

Inappropriate? That's really strange, it sounds like RescueTime has become non-responsive.
You can try to force quite RescueTime by using the Option-Apple-Esc key combination, selecting RescueTime and then Force Quit. If that doesn't work, you may need to restart your computer.
I had one other report of RescueTime becoming unresponsive after Firefox crashed, so I'm looking into why that might be happening.
Thanks! -
Inappropriate? It was weird but after a while it responded.. but only after i had rescue time open for a while in the browser. Very weird. It seems to not respond until after i've had the computer going for a while. It's done this each time i've restarted (i've tried it about 3 times). I'll try the force quit in the meantime though and see if that helps. thanks!
I’m satisfied

Inappropriate?also firefox has been crashing on me a lot too. Not sure if there is a connection or not.
I’m curious
-
Inappropriate?Yeah, there is currently an issue where RescueTime will hang if Firefox crashes. I'm working on a fix for that, trying to force RescueTime to timeout after a couple of seconds if it can't communicate with Firefox.
Thanks for letting me know! -
Inappropriate?Hi, I have this problem too. I downloaded Rescuetime only yesterday and today upgraded Firefox from 3 to 3.0.1, but have not yet been able to get anything from the menu bar icon (which is still somewhat fuzzily pixelated btw).
Macbook Pro running OSX 10.4.11.
I’m curious and bemused
