Inappropriate? How often are you seeing this error? The RescueTime API contains duplicate checks to ensure that the same log file is not loaded multiple times.
During heavy server loads, the RescueTime data collector may give up waiting for a response from the RescueTime.com website, so it will not necessarily know if a log file successfully made it to the website. In those instances, it will re-attempt sending the log file, but it is quite possible that the file actually made it the first time, it just took longer than expected.
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?Joe,
This is the first time I've seen this message, moreover I am like 90% positive that it's not something that has been submitted already.
Reasoning: The error occurred when trying to upload file rt_20080604-090011, which I've checked, contains data from 8:59 to 9:59, the file is already in the 'uploaded' folder and on the dashboard I am missing this data (looks like for 1 hour I was idle although in the log file you can see a lot of things going on :))
cheers, -
just a thought - I can move the log file from uploaded to pending folder and see what happens, maybe it will go through this time... do you think that's a good idea? -
Oh, missed your comment - but yes, feel free to give that a try. Chances are though it will produce the same error, but there is no harm in trying. -
Inappropriate? If possible, I'd love to get a look at that log file. If you are willing, could you email me that log file to team@rescuetime.com ? I'll dig through it to see why RescueTime thinks there is a dupe record.
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?I've moved the file from uploaded to pending folder and ... it was uploaded without a problem. So I guess, we can consider it a temporary outage which got solved on its own ;-)
I’m amused
