When does Firefox appear in my application list ?
The data does not show Firefox usage at all, even though it is my primary browser.

Yep-- as Joe mentioned (unfortunately) our ability to get at the specific site data is language specific... So a Japanese or Polish version of Firefox might not expose the data... We're working on that, but there are a lot of languages and (as you can imagine) we don't speak many of 'em.
I’m not pleased with Mozilla.

Inappropriate?Hi there... We decided to treat a browser like an OS... So, right now, we don't expose Firefox time (the total, anyways). Instead, we treat each domain/site as an "App".
In the future, we'll probably find a way to expose this information to you (we think it's interesting, too!).
Just to make sure I'm not missing something-- you ARE seeing individual site time, right? We've had a few issues with international browsers.
-
Inappropriate?Unfortunately, with Firefox, the method of retrieving the URL's is currently language specific. What language version of Firefox are you using?
-
Inappropriate?Hi, i have the same trouble.. rescuetime currently don't expose any time of my firefox 2.0.0.7 version
rescue time will fix this soon i hope!
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? When posting, let us know which language versions of Firefox you are running, I will bump those up in the priority list!
Thanks!

Inappropriate?Hi, actually the language of my Firefox is Spanish.
If i can do something to help you to improve RescueTime(like translate something or anything else), let me know.
I think your app is very useful!
Thanks for the invite, i received yesterday!
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate? So that's it: my FF speaks Finnish.
-
Inappropriate?Hi!
my language is spanish too, no trace of firefox nor domains in stats :(
Also Zend Studio apears as javaws but not as zend.

I’m sad

Inappropriate?I really would like to have my browser as an application so that i can group all of my web browsing into one tag. Otherwise I have to tag every website... which is way too many to do so.
I’m not sure about this
-
Inappropriate?i do not agree... i really work with firefox when i'm in my compani's website, but using youtube i'm procastrating,...
Anyway... internet explorer should behave the same way than firefox whatever is the choice of developers.

Inappropriate? That is a good point and it is nice to separate some sites... but it still leaves the misc random sites just hanging. It would be awesome if you could give those sites a tag by default, like "surfing" and then you could sift through the big ones that you use a lot and tag those separately.

Inappropriate?RescueTime - doesn't track today any of the sites i visited today (using firefox)
anyone know why is that happening?
i just updated to the latest version of RescueTime
thanks!
I’m anxious
-
Inappropriate?Shaal, was this working for you before you did the update?
What language version of Firefox are you using? -
Inappropriate?i think it still worked yesterday, but only until about noon,
but i noticed that i used a lot of logmein.com, and it wasn't shown at all.
yesterday i also had the CPU to 100% problem...
this morning i did the update.
i use the default version of firefox, US english.
I’m happy to get such quick response
-
Inappropriate? Can you refresh your RescueTime.com page to see if you are now seeing Firefox URLs? From our logs it appears that they are once again updating.
I’m hopeful
-
Inappropriate?i just did.

Inappropriate?I've sent you an email requesting some additional information. Let me know if you don't receive it.
Thanks - we'll figure this out
-
Inappropriate?I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.9 en-GB under OS X 10.4.10 and don't see any sites on my RescueTime dashboard, just a bug chunk of firefox.app...
-
Inappropriate?devs: overcome the language barrier with an almost hack: Install URL 2 Title extension. This will put the URL in the titlebar making it easily capturable
Since your people are devs.. you could dev elop your own greasemonkey userscript to provide similar features
I’m brilliant
-
Inappropriate? You are brilliant! ;) Hopefully the latest versions of RescueTime work for all language versions of IE and Firefox. We are still working on support for Opera and some other browsers on Windows.
I’m thankful for the idea
-
Inappropriate?:-D
Opera has a bastard child version of greasemonkey. I'm not an Opera enthusiast, but I don't dislike it as I do IE ;)
The other alternative is an annotation style add-on (from AMO) that feeds your API... but that doesn't seem as elegant
This might take you in the right direction

I’m glowing
-
Inappropriate?i'm workin with flock...do you support this kind of firefox?? because no data appears in my rescue time dashboard...thanks...
-
Inappropriate?Yes I agree with you, I like the idea of having separate webpages, but also perhaps auto tagging of anything opened in firefox as well. So I can view specific sites, and total Internet usage.
Much like the grouping idea I was after with media Player Classic i.e separate shows or videos, along with total time. -
Inappropriate?Hi everyone,
Actually the language of my Firefox is Portuguese (Brazil).
Can I do something to help in this issue?
Regards!
I’m very excited with Rescuetime
-
Inappropriate?Lucas, RescueTime on Windows should work with any language version of Firefox now.
If you are not seeing website usage in your dashboard, could you send us the email you are using for RescueTime to team@rescuetime.com?
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?I don't see any firefox anytivity, although I spent considerable time in it. my language is us english. and it's the same at work and at home.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Having the same issue, no url or app data for firefox. Running firefox 2.0.0.13 and rescuetime 1.0.2.01 on xp sp2.
Any updates since this last post? -
Inappropriate? We haven't had any reports of missing url information in Firefox for quite some time. One of the debug features I added was to briefly display the URL information on the Debug tab of RescueTime.
If you could, I'd love to have you test this out with Firefox and IE 6/7 (if you still have it installed).
1. Open the RescueTime preferences and go to the Debug tab
2. In the first field on the top of the tab you will see Idle information, but when you switch to a recognized web browser (ie, firefox, opera) it should briefly display the captured URL.
3. Open up IE and observe if the URL is displayed in the Debug tab, then do the same for Firefox.
This will tell me if RescueTime is even recognizing your Firefox installation.
Thanks! -
Inappropriate? It sees the IE instance, but not the Firefox. The only difference that I can think of is that IE's path is on c:/ but Firefox is installed on d:/. Also, rescuetime is loaded on d:/ as well. I do see an error (running both as a non-privileged user and admin):
3/28/2008 10:23:13 AM
Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Hope this helps. -
Inappropriate?Hrm, the path "shouldn't" be the issue.
Could I have you pull up the Task Manager and tell me the name that is being reported for Firefox? RescueTime expects to see "firefox.exe", but we have had instances where the executable had been renamed and would cause this issue.
Also, could you list which plugins you are using with Firefox and possibly try disabling all of them briefly (and restart Firefox) to see if that makes a difference.
I'll try to think of other things that could be causing this in the meantime.
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?Task Manager reports 'firefox.exe' as expected.
I do have a laundry list of extensions
- adblock filterset.g
- adblock plus
- bugmenot
- dom inspector
- forecastfox enhananced
- IE tab
- IE View Light
- Personas
- Stealther
- tab x
- tabbrowser preferences
- Talkback
But after disabling all and restarting, I still do not see activity in the debug. -
Inappropriate?since rescue time was installed as admin, i restarted rescue time using run as... and my local admin account. launching firefox provided these debug comments:
3/28/2008 10:59:32 AM
Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
3/28/2008 10:59:34 AM
Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Attempting to create a new log file
3/28/2008 10:59:34 AM
Error: Could not find file 'C:\Documents and Settings\'userpathremovedforprivacy'\Local Settings\Application Data\RescueTime.com\logs\pending\rt_20080328-105934.yml'.
Checking current log file size
That help any? -
Inappropriate? Those errors are due to some timing issues, which I think are separate from what you are seeing with the Firefox URL issue.
I've got some other issues in the Windows code that I'm looking at today, so I will dig into what other things could be causing Firefox to not give up the URL information. -
Inappropriate? Thanks for the help! Let me know if I can provide any other info in assistance.
-
Inappropriate? And it's working now, urls from firefox are showing up in the dashboard. Can't remember if I did a full shutdown after installation, but that's the only change in the system since Friday. Thanks for the help in the meantime, Joe.
I’m still using RescueTime
-
Inappropriate?<sarcasm>
You gotta love OS inconsistencies, they make my day sooo much more exciting...
</sarcasm>
I'm glad it's working for you again James! I'll add a restart to the potential fix for this problem in the future. :)
-
Inappropriate? No url information for nightly builds of FF (application name is "Minefield". Is that likely to be a no go for the long term? I'm a Mozilla employee and prefer to run the nightly builds to help with testing our product.
-
Inappropriate?I have a test build of the OS X RescueTime that works with Minefield. If you are interested in helping us Alpha test the build, send me an email at team@rescuetime.com - and I'll shoot you a copy. Otherwise, I should have this version tested and ready for deployment later this week.
Thanks!
