Will there be a more advanced desktop client soon?
Hi there,
I recently stumbled upon Slife v.2.0 for Mac OS X and I find it amazingly simple and useful!
Although some (very few) of this features are found online, I'd like to have all of them also into a desktop client!! Although I'm also concerned about privacy, I'm ok with online syncronization - and I can't switch to it as I use Microsoft Windows anyway.
But I'd really like to see their product as a vision in your mind about what to create for / improve about RescueTime!
Thanks for listening and thanks for your answers in advance.
Kind regards.

Inappropriate?Hey Phillip-- Thanks for checking us out!
We're pretty whole hog committed to doing this on the web. We think it allows it to be more social, which makes the data more relevant. It also dramatically reduces the cost of ownership for business customers. It also (and this is really important) reduces the cost for US (in terms of both support and development)-- which allows us to give it away to individual users.
That being said, the RescueTime client WILL get better (we've got lots of cool things coming down the pipe), but RescueTime will likely never offer visualization and data crunching on the client side. We think Slife is pretty cool, so hopefully that'll help
A few notes on privacy-- check out whitelists (http://www.rescuetime.com/whitelists ) - they allow you to limit the data that's collected. You can also delete any data (individually), ignore apps, nuke your whole account etc. Lots of privacy options are available.
I’m thankful

Hey Toni, "Slife is pretty cool", but how does that help YOU? Don't you fear your users switch? I surely will, if the Windows version is stable / out of beta - and I won't keep a "duplicate" software (RescueTime) running on my PC for sure!
