backing up blackberry on MAC
My blackberry has a software issue so vodafone said they'd send another one.
the problem:
I can't seem to back up the blackberry OR transfer all my photos.
I tried using pocketmac, it says it does a full backup before synching (i don't want to synch, just purely backup and restore).
When I plug in the BB I can see the photos on the blackberry but not theone on the media card.
Help. I think vodafone is very weak for not supporting the MAC, and Blackberry has done a terrible job as well.

Inappropriate?I'm a mac user as well and think that there should be some application made for us to download to back up our info.

Inappropriate?I second (well, third) this. It's ridiculous that there is no way for Mac users to access the contact info on our phones in order to back it up. Please rectify this!

Inappropriate?I believe Mark/Space's The Missing Sync (http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_...) can do this. It has been a long time since I used it, though.
I've resorted to having a Windows partition and use BOot Camp to boot into WIndows XP and use the Blackberry Desktop Manager software

While The Missing Sync is great for Cal, address book, etc sync it doesn't do Application install or back up. -
Inappropriate?I haven't ever seen either app, PocketMac nor MissingSync, be able to do a backup/restore similar to the desktop manager. As far as I have seen they simply synchronize your data between your computer and blackberry.
I've just done like Brian and Bootcamp'd my way to Windows and just install the desktop manager for anything having to do with backup/restore or application loader. -
Inappropriate?I have no idea how to Bootcamp my way to Windows. Any pointers? I'm now living in Canada with a new blackberry, but still wildly frustrated that BB doesn't support MAC. Thanks everyone for the help!

Inappropriate?First, you HAVE to have a Mac with the Intel processor. Second, you have to have a copy of Windows to install into the computer. From there, if it's Leopard you are using, you just open the BootCamp application found in Applications > Utilities.
It would be SO much easier if RIM would just come out with a desktop manager application for Mac rather than just using PocketMac. -
Inappropriate?Ahhh I have a powerpc Mac. Any idea why RIM doesn't support Mac? I heard something about it stemming from a business limitation caused by existing partnerships... i.e. don't support MAC because then we're competing with company x or y, or we're supporting APPLE or ?? Seems rather archaic not to support Mac.
Also right now Rogers is the only real service supplier in Canada (Telus went with CDMA)and from early assessment I'd say Vodafone in the UK is a LOT better. Any idea if Vodafone has plans to come to Canada? I'd switch in a second as their service was great and their agreement structures in the UK are much more reasonable. This likely has to do with the mobile market in the UK being more advanced, more competitive, but even amongst other suppliers I thought they were really solid.

Inappropriate?I haven't a clue why they don't create an application. I suppose it could have something to do with contractual obligations but RIM seems rather tightlipped about their proprietary software to help maintain its security. I would imagine it would be something to do with that. Perhaps some fear that Mac users will figure out what it is they wish to keep secret.
