How to Transfer Photos to a Mac from the Blackberry Curve
I'm very excited to have used Bluetooth for my first time. Transferring photos to my Mac was a snap with my Curve 8320. Here is how I did it:
1) Turn Bluetooth on, on both the Mac and the Blackberry.
2) If your computer is located, you're prompted for a numerical code on the Blackberry. Make up a number. The purpose here is to make sure you're in control of the computer you're saying you want to beam to.
Immediately after, a prompt will pop up on the Mac to enter the same set of numbers.
2) Go to view your photos on the Blackberry. Select one you want to send and select to Send it with Bluetooth.
Voila!
The only thing I can't figure out is how to select ALL photos to do this at once.
Any ideas? And do you have other ideas of how to transfer photos? I don't have an SD card but I know you can plug a mass storage device into the Curve.

All new Apple Mac computers are equiped with bluetooth. As long as you have synced the two devices together they should work accordingly. And i mean sync both. You need to add your phone to your mac's trusted bluetooth device list and add your mac to your bluetooth device (unless your device is a headset then why would you want to transfer a file.)
Then from your device you find your file then click menu button , scroll down and then send using bluetooth. Click on where to send the file and since your mac is a trusted device it will recieved the file.
oh ya and before you send a file, you need to know where ur file will be saved to so you should set that up first. (How?)
Right click on the bluetooth logo in the menu bar, scroll down to open bluetooth preferences..
Click on the sharing tab and there you can setup the folder or area that the device or other trusted devices can go or be allowed to browse. (oh and don't screw yourself and let the device have full access to your main HD)
Make sure that the three box's are checked ON for Bluetooth File Transfer, Bluetooth File Exchange, and Bluetooth-PDA-Sync. The key box's are to put a passkey for devices that can sync. If you click on each of the service name's it gives other options.
And thats how you can get your BB to transfer files to your mac.
This should work the same if you wanted to send a file from your mac to your device. ( Theoretically... I've yet to get my Curve to recognize the transfer file. I just get the failed message on my mac "Device does not have the necessary services.")
But now i see the faces on the bottom of this asking me to show everyone how this makes me feel... so um i guess its :) and :( and :P
I’m unconcerned

I've tried several ways to do this with my Blackberry Pearl and Mac running Leopard. Definitely the easiest way is the first one suggested by trufula. It takes a little while because have do files individually but the other methods take a long time to set up and then not assured that will work. Once in your finder, the photos are easy to import to iphoto.

Inappropriate? Thanks for the info. I've got a Blackberry Pearl and haven't tried any phone to computer communication yet but need to soon.
-
Inappropriate?I hate to say it, but probably the best way to do all of this is by plunking down money for third-party software like The Missing Sync for BlackBerry: http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_...
I hate the idea of having to pay for software to do this, and I don't even think this software works that well. Hopefully, Apple will improve its syncing with BlackBerry devices in the future, but I wouldn't hold your breath too long.
I’m sorry to say

Inappropriate? If you store photos on the SD card, you can just plug your Blackberry in with USB and drag pictures out of the photo folder. Much faster.
MicroSD cards are less than 40 dollars for the 2gig at Costco. Make the investment, seriously. -

Luke,
To get your BB to accept a file from your Mac you have to tell it to do so. Try these steps:
1) Make sure you have the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar at the top of the screen. If you do not, go to System Preferences > Bluetooth > Settings and then check the box that says 'show bluetooth status in the menu bar'.
2) Click the bluetooth icon in the menu bar and choose 'send file'. Browse to the file you want to send and select it but do not click 'send' just yet. We have to get the BB ready to accept it first :)
3) Open the Media folder on your BB, or you can just open up the camera application and choose to view your pictures. Once there, bring up the full menu, one of the options will be 'receive using bluetooth'. Choose that option. The phone should say waiting for connection.
4) Go back to the Mac and click send in the window where you selected the file in step 2 above and then click send. Another window comes up and asks you to select your bluetooth device. Select the BB and then choose send again.
5) At this point a menu on the BB will pop up and ask you where you want to save the file on the BB. This is pretty straight-forward and probably different for each model of BB so I will not go into too much detail. Just make sure you remember where you put the file. For some reason my phone wants to save everything in the ringtone folder, go figure.
Good luck, hope this helps and made some sense. -
Inappropriate?gotta luv SEO. I forgot how to do this so googled photos blackberry curve mac and my post was the first result :)

Inappropriate?i used to be able to do file transfer via bluetooth to OSX Leopard, but there is no longer file transfer. My BB 8300 keeps saying failed to find service.
-
I have the same problem --- does not have service. -
Inappropriate?I have been trying to move some photos from my Curve 8310 to my new MACbook today and am having the same problem nedrebo is having, it states "failed to find service". I've paired the two without issue. I can't seem to find any software on the web that will let me move the photos. Any ideas?
-
Inappropriate?Make sure that you have "Bluetooth Sharing" enabled in your Mac's System Preferences > Sharing pane.
(This is for Leopard 10.5)

Inappropriate? Here is what I found to transfer all the pictures from Blackberry to Mac. It works. All you need to do is to turn on the media card supports at your BB.
To turn on media card support on the BlackBerry smartphone
1.From the Home screen, click Options > Media Card.
2.Set the following options:
a) Media Card Support - On
b) Mass Storage Mode Support - On
c) Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected - Yes
To transfer media files between the media card and the Apple Macintosh computer
1.Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the Apple Macintosh computer via USB. A storage drive icon appears on the screen of the computer.
2.Open the storage drive icon to display the contents of the media card.
3.Drag and drop or copy and paste the media files between the Apple Macintosh computer and the media card.
All the best.
ISTANBUL.

thank you this definitely did the trick! -
Thanks so much for the tip. I spent all afternoon trying to copy pics from my mac to my blackberry 8330...this worked perfect. Many thanks. -
I used to be able to do it this way and it worked perfectly. I went on a long trip, got a new SIM card from the country I went to and they ̈unblocked ̈ my phone so I could use it there. They installed the new software, and now I can ́t transfer my pictures!
When I plug in the BB with the USB cable to my Mac, it doesn ́t ask anything anymore, though it shows that the BB battery is charging. Did turn off all the multimedia card off, also my BB and then all on again... NOthing...
Any ideas? Thank You! -
Inappropriate?ok, i was having the same problem. I just wanted to transfer photos from my bberry curve to the mac. here's what i found you can do. do all the enabling bluetooth on your mac and phone first......THEN, if you're having the same issue i was, then it STILL says does not have "the necessary services..."
go to your PHONE, and open up a photo. open the drop down menu and scroll down to select "Send Using Bluetooth." Now your mac should pop up a window asking you to accept the incoming photo.
hope this helps.

Thanks for sharing your tip, Colin! -
Inappropriate?1) Plug in blackberry to mac
2) On BB say "yes" if it asks to use BB as mass storage device
3) On BB enter password if needed
4) A white disk (or two) should open on MAC desktop. Double click on one that says blackberry.
5) Select Home > User > Pictures
6) Drag all pics from this location to your desktop
Voila! -
what do you do if there is no icon on the desktop when you connect? I just got teh BB 8900 and I am at total loss ... -

Inappropriate?if you don't have a media card in your phone, i don't think the phone will show up as a drive on your mac....you have to send pictures over the way I explained earlier...
-
Inappropriate?THANK YOU!! That is all I wanted to do...your suggestion rocked! I have the pocket mac for blackberry to synch address book and Ical but for pics I just could not figure anything out. This was the quickest and easiest solution by far and it worked immediately!
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?i had the same issue.. sharing experience. I have a javelin (8900 i think) and 10.6/snow leopard and am new to a mac and a bit frustrated (EXACTLY as much as a PC in 1998). Anyway... A little different on my device menu:
options -> memory -> had to change auto enable mass storage mode when connected. Then disconnected/reconnected to mac, and magic icon is on desktop (and under devices in this FINDER app im coming to find is windows explorer).
-
Inappropriate? It's doesnt work!! I have a card, im sure about that. But, when i plug in the bb and ask me about the "Enable Mass Storage Mode" and the storage drive icon is not there...
I can not connect by the bluetooth, said that "The Device does not have the necessary services"
What can i do?
I’m Ale

Inappropriate?Actually, mine stopped working too, somewhat magically. This is my first foray into the world of Mac's and it turns out all that 'it just works' crap is a load of that. Nonstop challenges.
-
Inappropriate?I can't believe I can add something useful to this, but I've just discovered that you can click on the photo on your BB, send it to yourself as an email (AT&T tells me this is free), download it from your email using iphoto, and bingo... it's that simple, unless I'm missing something important like the resolution isn't good enuf that way??
