My Blackberry 8830 spontaneously deletes emails, call history and sms history.
Once a week or so, my blackberry will spontaneously delete all the emails, call histories, and sms histories on the device.
I use gmail so my normal sync setting are to delete emails on the phone, but not in my gmail. As a result my emails aren't lost, they're just deleted from the phone.
I don't keep huge amounts of histories, so it's not like there are 32k emails and something overflows.
I get no error messages. It has the standard Verizon firmware v4.2.2.66
The phone doesn't reset or restart, just deletes the histories.
Two questions: 1. am I unique in this problem? 2. anything I can do about it?

Inappropriate?Hello,
I have the same exact problem.
What other software are you running? and what's the theme you're using on the phone?
Mine is the same firmware, running BeeJive IM, Gmail, and the Scribble Theme. -
Inappropriate?the only additional software I had when I first noticed the problem is the google maps app.
-
Inappropriate?i have google maps too, although i rarely use it.
did you try un-installing it?
i will try to upgrade to 4.5 in a few days and see how it goes .. will keep you posted.
Cheers, -
Inappropriate?I have the same problem , and i have google maps too ...........
Any solution? -
Inappropriate? My Blackerry holds calls for about 1 day, but my husbands only stay on the call log for about 3 minutes! They are both only about 2 weeks old and they are still like new (no maps or anything!) Very frusterating!

Inappropriate?I just called the phone company and they said it is because I have ran out of memory... It may be because I have taken up a few pictures recently or gotten too many thanksgiving texts, but they said to delete the blackberry video program on the phone. and delete any other programs you don't need/ any media you don't need.
to delete programs go...
menu > options> advanced options> applications> (and then scroll over the one you want to delete)> menu> delete> delete> (yes)
I tried it and it worked!!!!
You can also get a memory expansion card, but eventually that will fill up too :D
hope it helps!!!
I’m happy it's fixed!

I deleted a program and the blackberry video and voila it started working again. Have seen this issue in the past too but then it used to start working normally after one "cleansing" of all old files/call logs. But this time for some reason i saw this happening continaully for almost a week. -
Inappropriate?well the 8830 i reported this on doesn't have a camera. So it's not photo or videos. and I only keep a couple texts and emails, so they're not the cause. it could be something else running out of memory, but if so, it's a bug in that particular app, I'd suspect.
Anyway, I solved the original problem: I got a Bold -
Inappropriate?I have this problem, and it drives me crazy. I have a 4GB memory card, but RIM cleverly decided not to store anything except useless data on that card, so it won't solve any of your problems. The phone doesn't even function most of the time. I have to pop out the battery and put it back in to reset the software. Blackberry can forget about any future sales to me - I'm going with Palm or HP or even HTC.
I’m frustrated
-
Yes this is precisely the problem. The internal memory of BB is only 64 MB. The programs are stored on internal memory so are emails & SMS. Only media files can be stored on memory card. This is pretty inefficient. The memory card should at least store the emails & SMS. The problem got compounded when I downloaded BB messenger 5. The phone has become so slow & unresponsive that each time I need to hardboot. So also the emails & SMS automatically get deleted. -

Inappropriate?Delete running programs (use the backup button vs. the end button to get out a program. Use Alt + the Backup Key to see what's running in the background. Delete nonsense stuff like the Sample Video and Sample photos....lots of wasted space here. There is a free program that you can run all of your apps (Yahoo, Google Maps, VZNav, etc) from the Memory card and not the phone.....unfortunately, the name escapes me now.

Inappropriate? You have to delete the cache operations! Even if you don't use your internet you still have some, trust me! These are cookies so to do so you have to:
~go to your internet browser
~hit your menu key
~hit options
~scroll to cache options
~delete any cookies or content cache
GOOD LUCK!!!

Thank-you..i do remember my cell phone provider telling me, that clearing your cookies from time to time will help you Blk-Berry run sufficiently...also, taking out your battery to from time to time..Thank-you, this is a very important tip, regardless if you have this particular problem, it helps solve others. -
Thanks for the tip! -
Inappropriate?I have a curve 8320, and on occasions it deletes ONLY my BB messenger conversations, and it's weird because they're not loaded or anything.. I have the latest software from RIM and a 1 GB memory card...
But my boyfriend has a worse problem, he has a 8310 curve, also updated, also with a 1 GB card, and whenever he's on a call, the phone restarts - EVERY TIME! - we already tried restarting and formating the OS, and restalling it, it didn't work... on the best cases, the calls last 4 minutes!!
PLEASE HELP!!!
I’m sad and frustrated!
-
Inappropriate?funny, I've had it deleted before my eyes..text messages and phones calls shown and dropped and erased. It seemed to happen more so with my received and sent text. WeiRd i tell ya....I have A Rim 8120-frost...My sister has a 8100 same thing...this must be a mal-function with these phones..i think to if you have your internet set on...or e-mail coming in--it presents an over-traffic-flow and blocks the system some kind of way...maybe i will turn of my web for two days and see if this happens to be the case, but will i do it now?? nah, its a hassle..so far its been a while sense it has happen, but and when it happens again, i will try this avenue...
I’m undecided
-
Inappropriate?I find this happens when the phone runs out of memory, as seen in Options | Status. When that happens I switch it off, take the battery out and put it back in. I hope there is a better way!
I’m thankful

I recently discovered that the hard boot ie removing the battery is not necessary. There is a software called QuickPull at www.steelthorn.com which does this efficiently. -
Inappropriate?I have the exact problem as you all have spoken of and I've deleted files and all. I have a 4g memory card and not that much stored on the phone the only temporary solution I've found is to reset the entire unit by taking out the battery and sim card about 5 mins and it runs great for about a week then...voila it all disappears again.
I’m hacked off
