Inappropriate? Thanks for letting us know that this is confusing Ryan. Currently, the feedback that the date form gives before it understands a date string is those ellipsii. There are a few things that it doesn't understand yet, like 'night', 'evening', 'noon' etc. so that's likely what you were running into. We'll take a crack at making this more obvious in the future.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Word. I noticed right after filing that that it was tripping over "Tonight". I'd almost recommend just not providing any feedback, or at least only instantiating a single ellipses no matter how many requests are queued.
If the current input is completely incomprehensible to the system - the input is not null, the user has been idle for ~500ms, and no single component can be parsed - maybe say something like: "Our machines can't figure out the date you're describing. Please, try describing it another way." Or something less verbose, I guess.
I’m unconcerned

Inappropriate?Absolutely. What about a questionmark instead of ellipsis or words it understands darkening to black as they are completed?
I’m - Ryan is a gentleman and a scholar.
