Frustrated with Rogers cable

On Oct. 30, 2006 I returned my Rogers Cable Digital equipment and received a disconnection receipt. On April 28 2008 charges for cable service appeared on my Phone/Internet bill. On May 23 2008 I noticed the charges and called Rogers. On June 19 2008 I called again and was told the manager would call me within 3 hours but no one called.
Calling Rogers is always a frustrating time consuming experience, so I am writing rather than making a 3rd call for this incorrect charge. Why was I billed for cable when I don’t even have the necessary digital equipment? And why do I have to spend so much of my time to deal with this error? I would like to stop dealing with Rogers but don’t know of a good customer service option for High-speed Internet and Home Phone.

If you are paying for the Rogers "Home Phone" service which uses the internet just like Vonage. I think you will be glad to know that you can use "Skype". Skype Pro cost $36 a year ( yes, per year, unlimited ) compare that to Rogers $29.99 per month basic fee. With Skype you can call land line and cell phone numbers anywhere in Canada and the USA , the yearly fee also includes about 6 to 9 hours of free international long distance (I hardly use my minutes so it is lasting me forever). Walmart sells a Philips Skype Phone (about $149) so you do not need to have your computer on with skype running. You can also buy more international minutes at 0.05 cents if the 6 to 9 hours is not enough for you.

If you are in the $29.99 plan with Rogers, you are paying a little bit over $400 a year for the service. Skype Pro will cost you $200 for the first year (if you buy the Philips phone) and then only $36 for every other year after that. I say that's really good savings.

The only drawback of Skype is that it does not include 911 (if you have a cell phone then you don't really have to worry about having 911 in your home phone).

As for high speed internet, have you tried Bell, IWA or Shaw before?

If you need to find internet service providers in your area you can look them all up at:

    http://www.canadianisp.ca/

They have a list of all the ISPs that service the whole nation by regions and provinces.

Hope this helps you a little more...
